Library Reads | #2

Here I document (in my own way) what I get out form the library and what my thoughts are about the books, before I actually read the books.

Lets see what I have out from the library now, shall we? I currently have out:

The Brilliant Light of Amber Sunrise by Matthew Crow
I requested this book from the library purely because I saw a picture of the book spine here on tumblr and thought it was really pretty. When I got the book though, there was a quotes on the back of the book that really sets the theme for the book. Here’s the quote: “’Do you know about the best thing about the stars?’ ‘What?’ ‘They’re all dead, but we can still see them. When we look up it’s like we’re looking at a million different memories, a million different versions of something that used to be. That’s not romantic, either; it’s just science.’ ‘It’s a bit romantic,’ I tried to argue. ‘No, it’s not,’ she said, ‘It’s real, and that’s what’s important.’” That just really set the tone of the book for me, so I’m really excited to read this novel.

The Girl From the Well (#1) by Rin Chupeco
When I stumbled across this book, I was looking for a book that could scare me. I actually have a hard time getting scared when reading books. Its really challenging for me to actually find a scary novel without the novel having coming from the horror section. The title of this book actually reminds me about a scary movie, I think its called “The Grudge”? I haven’t seen the movie but hopefully this book scares me.

Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’ve heard so many things about this series! And because I am so skeptical about these books, I’ve borrowed the first book from the library. Yay, aliens!

Silent Alarm by Jenniffer Banash
Ah, yes, I remember the synopsis now. Silent Alarm is actually on the trigger list because of what the book is based on. This is the first type of book for me that involves a school, and school shootings. Im very intrigued about how the story will play off. The main characters older brother was the shooter that well, shot a bunch of people I’m guessing. And without having to read Silent Alarm, I can already tell that people are going to be scared of her, or treat her badly because of what her brother did. I can kind of figure the MC walking down a school hallway to get to her next class and the rest of the school giving her a wide berth because they might (probably are) thinking that the MC is toxic or something.

If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin
I can picture this book to be involved with death. Maybe the main character lost a brother, or her crush, or someone she just really cared about and now she’s blaming herself for what happened? Either way, I’m really looking forward to this book.

The Girl with All the Gifts by M.J. Carey
I heard about this book from a booktuber and they said that this book was all types of amazing so I had to check it out for myself. Im actually pretty excited for this book to see how it all plays out. Maybe some stuff will happen, or maybe some stuff won’t happen. Who knows? All I can say is that I’m really excited about what is what.

Thanks for reading! If you’d like to talk about any of the books mentioned, shoot me a message! I’ll be happy to talk about books with you.

Until next time,
Adele.
