May Wrap Up | 2017

How was everyone’s May? May is actually one of the busiest months for me. I mean, there’s mothers day, my brother’s wedding anniversary, my dad’s birthday, my parents wedding anniversary, and then my sisters birthday. All in that order, too.

I officially marked A Monster Calls (by Patrick Ness) as a Did Not Finish (DNF). I’ve just lost all interest in the book. Which is slightly upsetting, but I can’t help that I’ve lost interest.

The books I had on my TBR this month were: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver; since I really want to read the book and eventually watch the movie with my mom. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard; I really need to finish re-reading this so I can put the book out of my mind! Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann; I’ve had the book for a while, and every time I look at my shelf my eyes go to Cryer’s Cross. Evermore by Alyson Noël; I’ve been wanting to re-read Evermore for a few years now, so why not!

I’m leaving May, and entering June reading Before I Fall, as well as Evermore. Let’s see what I read this May!

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan | Book Review #208

‘Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.’

The story and writing flows well, which was something that I both did and did not expect from this book. I’m surprised though by the fact that each time I picked up The Lightning Thief, the story was as interesting as it was when I put the book down.

February Wrap Up

Hello friends! Here’s my February Wrap-Up.

It has snowed off and on all of February; which is short of a miracle, I believe. I don’t think it’s snowed in February here in my part of Canada since 2007, maybe? Even the news has said that it’s rare for Vancouver to get this much snow in our Winter season. I think we’ve gotten around 68cm(?) of snow. Usually this happens only every ten years. Anyway, lets get on to reviewing what I’ve done and read this past month, shall we?

My February TBR consisted of four books: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition, illustrated by Jim Kay, Hereafter by Tara Hudson, Inhuman by Kat Falls, and Mistwood by Leah Cypress. I unfortunately only got around to reading one of the four books this month (Hereafter).

TBR Tuesday #16

Hello reader/s! I hope you’re well! For a while now, I’ve been writing a weekly or bi-weekly post about books that are on my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them.

Today’s post are about a book which so many different views, that I get dizzy and sleepy whenever I try to sit down and read it. And the second, about a boy who didn’t want to become what he is. Here we go!
