The Shadow Student, by Teresa Hann.

The Shadow Student is the first book in the Wraithwood Academy series.

46662523I’m not who you think I am.

My enemies aren’t who you think they are.

Welcome to Wraithwood Academy.

My father is dead. And my mother’s enemies smell opportunity. To save us both, I’ll have to navigate the troubled waters of Wraithwood Academy, seeking allies and outsmarting enemies among the heirs to the country’s most powerful mage families.

The vicious, gorgeous Nightfeld brothers think they know me. Cly Redbriar, the weak daughter of a powerful father. A spoiled, scared little girl hiding behind her bodyguard. Nothing but a new plaything for the kings of Wraithwood.

They know nothing.

Because I’ve been forced to live a twisted lie.

See, I’m not really Cly Redbriar…

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

I was particularly looking forward to reading the shadow student. I mean with a title like that, and an interesting series name as well! I had high hopes for this story. ….And that’s where I made my mistake.

As interesting as The Shadow Student was, the book fell a long ways from my expectations.

There were so many roller coaster rides, so many plays of action, plot and intrigue that happened both before our eyes, and behind the scenes, so to speak.

I liked that there was only one point of view within The Shadow Student. It kept the story, and things in general, simple.

What I absolutely despised was Cly. Everything about her made me so irreparably angry! I also didn’t like the situation with Aegis, and I have a feeling he’ll be coming back in the next book.

Interesting over all. I legitimately almost marked this one as DNF. I’m glad I gave this book a chance though. I’m even happier that I made it to the end of this book, because HELLO! The ending took me by surprise.

However I’m not entirely sure if I’m going to be reading the second book….

I give The Shadow Student, 2 stars.

Have you read The Shadow Student? What’d you think of it?
