Magic Secret, by Meg Xuemei X | Book Review

Hello lovelies! Today I have my book review of

Magic Secret, by Meg Xuemei X.

Magic Secret is the second book in the Half-Blood Academy trilogy.

Trigger Warnings: Sex, Fighting, Death mention, Murder mention.

46201239._SY475_I hate myself for craving the panty-melting demigods.

But my awakening power is volatile and destructive. Only they can prevent me from turning into a ticking bomb.

When Lucifer’s heir breaches the wards of the Academy to kidnap me, the sea demigod, my sworn enemy, uncovers my hidden origin. Instead of exposing me, or, worse, leading the Dominion army to hunt me down, he leaves a trail of dead bodies behind to protect my dangerous secret.

Magic Secret is the second book in the Half-Blood Academy series with a badass heroine, four deadly, striking demigods, heart-pounding action blended with super steamy love scenes, and great romance.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

This second novel in the Half-Blood Academy, Magic Secret, was quite the intriguing addition to the trilogy. There were things that I won’t mention, but will say that they were quite interesting, to say the least.

Marigold holds the most chapters in this book, which is somewhat surprising since I believed that there would be more chapters from the guys’ view points. Nevertheless, Marigold is still quite the fun character who does not take shit from anyone.

Something that I found funny in Magic Secret was actually the sex scene. They were over-the-top hilarious but also kinda cringe worthy at the same time. So even though the sex scene I’m talking about was funny in its’ stereo-typical sex scene, I didn’t actually like the scene.

The progress of the story was interesting to read since the story never truly went in the direction that I thought it would. With that being said though, the “big reveal” that happened in this novel (which I predicted in the first novel), came true. Which is simultaneously a good and bad thing.

Bad because I genuinely did not want to predict anything in this trilogy, and good because the story is heading in the direction that I thought it would.

I’m looking forward to reading the third book, Magic Fury, to see how this story ends. My predictions for the last book in the Half-Blood Academy trilogy is that there will be lots of fighting / action scenes. I also think that the Marigold and the rest of the guys will complete their calling as m****. And that the secrets Marigold has kept will be revealed–which in turn will cause the big fight that could determine the fate of Earth.

I give Magic Secret, 4 stars.

I look forward to reading the third novel. Hopefully the third book won’t be the end of Marigolds story–but I’m not holding too tightly onto that hope.
