April Wrap Up | 2017

Hello all! I have been enjoying sitting in my room with my blinds and window open as of late. I love the sounds that surround early spring. I don’t know about where you live, but here where I live, I hear the traffic on the nearby bypass, the birds at both 5-6 AM & PM. I hear people outside doing their spring cleaning, and I hear kids playing around outside. That’s when it’s sunny. — When it’s raining (which I still love) I tend to hear the rain hitting the roof, along with the white noise that accompanies rain. I don’t usually hear all that much traffic when it rains, which is a nice break!

This month my To Be Read consisted of four (4) books!

Make a wish…

Lennie always thought her uncles’ “important family legacy” was good old-fashioned bootlegging. Then she takes some of her uncles’ moonshine to Michaela Gordon’s annual house party, and finds out just how wrong she was.

At the party, Lennie has everyone make a wish before drinking the shine—it’s tradition. She toasts to wishes for bat wings, for balls of steel, for the party to go on forever. Lennie even makes a wish of her own: to bring back her best friend, Dylan, who was murdered six months ago.

The next morning gives Lennie a whole new understanding of the phrase be careful what you wish for—or in her case, be careful what wishes you grant. Because all those wishes Lennie raised a jar of shine to last night? They came true. Most of them came out bad. And once granted, a wish can’t be unmade…

Down with the Shine is a Young Adult Fantasy novel. I didn’t really to know what to expect with this book, except for the fact that I would end up liking it or not liking it at all. For that reason, I waited until I could borrow Down with the Shine from the library to read it.

February Wrap Up

Hello friends! Here’s my February Wrap-Up.

It has snowed off and on all of February; which is short of a miracle, I believe. I don’t think it’s snowed in February here in my part of Canada since 2007, maybe? Even the news has said that it’s rare for Vancouver to get this much snow in our Winter season. I think we’ve gotten around 68cm(?) of snow. Usually this happens only every ten years. Anyway, lets get on to reviewing what I’ve done and read this past month, shall we?

My February TBR consisted of four books: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition, illustrated by Jim Kay, Hereafter by Tara Hudson, Inhuman by Kat Falls, and Mistwood by Leah Cypress. I unfortunately only got around to reading one of the four books this month (Hereafter).

Library Reads: I’m a Library Lover, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from libraries. I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings.
