Books I Wish to Read in 2018

BooksIWantToReadin2018

Hello friends! I hope everything is well with you? As I’m writing this the temperature outside has been steadily increasing. The weather for now is supposed to be at least 30 degrees Celsius for at least a week! I’ll be staying inside the whole time, thank you very much.

So I wrote a list of what books I wanted to get around to reading near the start of 2018. I actually don’t remember exactly when I wrote it… But I wrote this list down in my notebook so I wouldn’t forget, but I ended up forgetting anyway. And yes, I know we’re just over halfway through the year, but that’s still plenty of time to get around to reading the books that I want to read this year.

Apparently I wrote two lists: one for books I haven’t yet read, and the second books for books I want to re-read. Let me know if you’re interested in the second list!

For the first list, this is all for the books that I want to read this year, as well as series I want to continue on in. I’m going to keep this list short because I have less than half a year to read these books, but also because I know I won’t get around to reading all the books I want to. #NotEnoughTime Let’s get onto the list! Zodiac, by Romina Russell | Book Review #288

Note: This is my review copied and pasted from my GoodReads account.

Book Review

20821306At the dawn of time, there were 13 Houses in the Zodiac Galaxy. Now only 12 remain….

Rhoma Grace is a 16-year-old student from House Cancer with an unusual way of reading the stars. While her classmates use measurements to make accurate astrological predictions, Rho can’t solve for ‘x’ to save her life—so instead, she looks up at the night sky and makes up stories.

When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens—including its beloved Guardian—Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House’s new leader. But, a true Cancerian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts.

Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?

Embark on a dazzling journey with ZODIAC, the first novel in an epic sci-fi-meets-high-fantasy series set in a galaxy inspired by the astrological signs.

Another sci-fi book that has so much potential…. Continue reading

Books that I’m Looking Forward to this Winter 2016 | Part 1

Hello all! So December is right around the corner, and that means that Winter is going to be here pretty quickly! The weather here has been pretty brisk when it’s not rainy. I’ve recently gotten into the habit of wearing socks to bed just to be a little warmer at night!

I’ll be honest and say that I haven’t really found that many books that are going to be published in December 2016, if you know of some others that I may like, please recommend them to me! With that have been said, let’s start with the books:

Favourite Character Names | Top 5 Wednesday #19

t5wpic

This week’s Top 5 Wednesday post is about the Top 5 Favourite Character Names.

Names hold a lot of meaning, especially in stories. Authors can name a character, and when you look up that character’s name, a lot of pieces will fall into place. Now for me, I personally really don’t care about character names. I mean, it’s a name. However, that doesn’t stop me from having favourite character names.  Continue reading

Hello lovelies! It’s another Tuesday, so you know what that means! It’s the second day of the work week, and I am totally excited! For today’s post I had my sister choose the books. She had chosen a book I had mentioned before, and she had asked what the book was about, and then when I told her she got all excited and recommended me a book that’s in this post! Also: there aren’t any spoilers in this post!

Books You Were Spoiled For – Top 5 Wednesday | #2

t5wpic

Hello everyone! Today’s post is about books that I was spoiled for. As you may know, I am a tumblr user, and the book community tends to spoil a LOT of books for people.

One of the books that I was spoiled for was The Raven Boys – by Maggie Stiefvater. I didn’t, and still don’t mind reading the spoilers for the Raven Cycle series, since there are other many other gems to read about in the books. I was a little bummed though, that I read spoilers. I didn’t really mind first reading the spoilers for this series because I never thought that I would ever read the series. Now that I am though, I don’t want to know what happens, haha. 2016 Rereading Challenge

After a lot of thought in the past few months, I’ve come to realize my need to reread books I’ve already read and own. I didn’t know how many books I wanted to read. Should I reread 2 books a month? One book a month?

Whilst scrolling and thinking about my little dilemma, I came a cross Mary’s (@books-and-cookies, on tumblr) 2016 Re-reading challenge where you would read at least 1 book a month that you’ve already read; hence the “Re-read” part. And that’s actually a perfect amount for me. The books below aren’t in any order that I’m going to read them. I just organized the books by size, biggest being on the bottom.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

‘Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.’

I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did. I’m pretty sure that I got this book on a whim, and that I was hooked on this book by the first…chapter?? I can’t remember. All I know is that I loved this book the first time around, and that I’m really looking forward to reading this book again. This book is also part of a trilogy!! –Trigger warning! There’s an attempted Rape Scene in the beginnings of the book.  Continue reading
