TBR #47; Red Cinder (Re-read Version!)

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 10.22.37 PMWelcome, reader/s! For a while now, I’ve been writing a bi-weekly post about books that are on
my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them. In hopes of reading them sooner than later.

This TBR Tuesday post will be the last one for a while. I don’t know how long, but I’m going to be taking a break from TBR Tuesday. Life just seems to be too busy these days, folks! That, and my interests are dividing quite a bit.

To Be Read Tuesday this week contains two books that I want to re-read but never seem to have the time to! Both of these books are Fantasy novels. One of these books I ended up enjoying way more than the other. Let’s get to it! Continue reading

April Wrap Up | 2017

monthly-wrap-up-book-haul-1

Hello all! I have been enjoying sitting in my room with my blinds and window open as of late. I love the sounds that surround early spring. I don’t know about where you live, but here where I live, I hear the traffic on the nearby bypass, the birds at both 5-6 AM & PM. I hear people outside doing their spring cleaning, and I hear kids playing around outside. That’s when it’s sunny. — When it’s raining (which I still love) I tend to hear the rain hitting the roof, along with the white noise that accompanies rain. I don’t usually hear all that much traffic when it rains, which is a nice break!

6 Popular YA Books that Disappointed Me

6disbooks

As readers, I would say that generally, a lot of the books we read have been recommended to us. I’d like to believe that’s incredibly common. So what happens when we’re recommended books and we end up not liking them? Well, I actually have no clue.

I get most of my recommendations from Goodreads. So when I poorly rate a book, I both get recommendations for that same kind of book, and also receive different recommendations.

Being on the internet, and on booklr (the book community on tumblr), I’ve come across quite a few book recommendations. And a few of them have disappointed me. As much as I enjoy being a part of booklr, both recommending books when asked, and reblogging peoples recommendations both for my liking and maybe yours(?) I am generally skeptical of these recommendations. The downside to these book communities is that when a book gets hyped up, it [the book(s)] get really hyped up. And that could be a bad thing, because these high expectations can lead to huge disappointments. Here are a few “popular” YA books that have disappointed me. Continue reading

Books that I’m Looking Forward to this Winter 2017

ucbrpic

Hello all! I have got to say that as much as I enjoy the winter and the snow it brings, I’d enjoy some spring weather! Haha. But since the spring weather won’t be here for a few months yet, I thought I’d bring some of my attention to, and cuddle up with a few books that are going to be published in February. To those of you who are just tuning into my blog, for the last 5 months or so I’ve been writing about which books I’m most interested in that will be released in the following month.

For today’s post; since it’s January, I’ll be talking about the books that I want to read that are getting published in this February.  Continue reading

Authors I’d Want To Meet | Top 5 Wednesday #14

t5wpic

The original title is “Authors You’d Want TO Meet at Book Expo America & Bookcon” but since I won’t be going to those — probably ever– I’m changing the title, and the post a bit. As you can see, I just changed the title to “Authors I’d Want To Meet.” I find this version of the title to be way more inclusive, because some authors don’t go to these bookish events. So without further ado, and in no particular order, the authors I would like to meet! Continue reading

Books You Were Spoiled For – Top 5 Wednesday | #2

t5wpic

Hello everyone! Today’s post is about books that I was spoiled for. As you may know, I am a tumblr user, and the book community tends to spoil a LOT of books for people.

One of the books that I was spoiled for was The Raven Boys – by Maggie Stiefvater. I didn’t, and still don’t mind reading the spoilers for the Raven Cycle series, since there are other many other gems to read about in the books. I was a little bummed though, that I read spoilers. I didn’t really mind first reading the spoilers for this series because I never thought that I would ever read the series. Now that I am though, I don’t want to know what happens, haha. Christmas Gift Book Haul of 2015 | Book Haul #2

Wow! This post is super late. I finally got all the books though, that I got for Christmas. I waited a while because I didn’t know what to do with some money that I got. I thought to myself, should I get a hair cut? Should I pay a bill? Should I just buy books? ‘Cause its Christmas money, you know? When I’m given money either on my birthday, or for Christmas I think to myself (I won’t break out into song, I swear!), should I be responsible with this money, or should I treat myself? I always end up treating myself. I figure that they wouldn’t give me this money in the first place if they wanted to pay my bills, so, TREATING MYSELF IT IS! In the picture below are the physical copies of books I received on Christmas, with the e-books I got on my Kobo; which aren’t pictured, below! So here are the books I got this Christmas:

2016 Rereading Challenge

After a lot of thought in the past few months, I’ve come to realize my need to reread books I’ve already read and own. I didn’t know how many books I wanted to read. Should I reread 2 books a month? One book a month?

Whilst scrolling and thinking about my little dilemma, I came a cross Mary’s (@books-and-cookies, on tumblr) 2016 Re-reading challenge where you would read at least 1 book a month that you’ve already read; hence the “Re-read” part. And that’s actually a perfect amount for me. The books below aren’t in any order that I’m going to read them. I just organized the books by size, biggest being on the bottom.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

‘Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.’

I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did. I’m pretty sure that I got this book on a whim, and that I was hooked on this book by the first…chapter?? I can’t remember. All I know is that I loved this book the first time around, and that I’m really looking forward to reading this book again. This book is also part of a trilogy!! –Trigger warning! There’s an attempted Rape Scene in the beginnings of the book.  Continue reading
