June 2018 Wrap Up + Mini Book Haul

IMG_6230Hello, friends! How are you doing? — Today’s post is my Wrap Up post for June. We’re already 6 months into the year! The older I get, the faster time flies past me.

My TBR for June was actually only 3 books. These books were Sea of Change by Kelley Armstrong, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, and Eve by Anna Carey.

The first week of June, I actually participated in a readathon, dubbed #goatathon, over on tumblr! Three of the four books that I had planned on reading during the Goatathon were the books I marked as my June TBR! So that worked hand-in-hand for me. Continue reading

Torn, by Amanda Hocking | Book Review #366

11966216When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…

She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to master her magical powers—and marry an equally powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off limits… and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.

Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted… in both worlds.

As a special gift to readers, this book contains a new, never-before-published bonus story, “One Day, Three Ways,” set in the magical world of the Trylle.

Torn is the second book in the Trylle trilogy by Amanda Hocking

Having read Switched last year, I’ve actually forgotten quite a bit of what happened. When I started reading Torn, I couldn’t remember much. I’ve got to say off-handedly, that I’m very happy that there wasn’t a recap of what had happened in the last book, Switched. However, with how quickly you could read these books I have no doubt that you could read the Trylle trilogy within one day, if you really wanted to.  Continue reading

January 2018 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello lovelies! This is my final post for the first month of the new year! The older I get, the faster time seems to fly by and I have no idea how to handle that… As you can see by the title, today’s post is my January 2018 Wrap Up & Book Haul! Like last month, I seem to have gotten quite a few books. February is going to be one heck of a reading month, if I can find the time to read.

I didn’t have a set TBR this month. I wanted to keep things open and be able to Continue reading

Torn, by Jennifer L. Armentrout | Book Review #311

This review contains spoilers.

TRIGGER WARNING: Attempted Rape, Drugging, Torture.

IMG_5116Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

In truth, while there were some enjoyable moments to be had in Torn…most of the book just felt like a filler. An entertaining filler. Don’t get me wrong. Torn was still highly entertaining. But for the majority of Torn, Continue reading

December 2017 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello, and Happy New Year! I hope your celebrations went well, and that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

Onto the December 2018 Wrap-Up! — I didn’t have a TBR for this month, because I knew that with Chirstmas this last month, things and life in general would be incredibly hectic. Yet I managed to read 10 books! Considering it was the busy hustle-and-bustle of the Holidays and Celebrations were to be had, I did pretty well with my readings!

I bought a LOT of books in December. I only received one, which I’m not at all complaining about. I’ve read the book, and I honestly, genuinely enjoyed it. I know I’m going to re-read it this 2018 (hopefully).
