January 2020 Wrap Up

Hello, friends! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet. 

Today I’m posting my January 2020 Wrap-Up. It’s kinda wild to think that we’re already a month in to the new decade, huh? I still can’t wrap my mind around it. 

You may or may not have noticed a couple things are different, or have changed recently, here on my blog. What I’ve changed is my GoodReads widget. Before, I had my “Current Reads” up, but I changed that to my “Recently Read” because I don’t exactly update my GoodReads “Currently Reading” thing, like, at all. But, I do change my Recently Read quite a bit in comparison!

What I’ve added to my blog is a link to my shop! If you didn’t know, I now make book sleeves, and they’re pretty cute if I do say so myself! (SHOP LINK BELOW or in the menu bar)

My Favourite Reads of 2018

Hello friends! As the title says, today’s post is all about my Favourite Reads of 2018.

The beginning of 2018 turned out to be a great start of the year for me. I read quite a few books and they still make me feel things after the fact.

I know there are other people who like (or follow the trend) to narrow down their favourite reads to a certain number. For example, back in 2010-2015 people would have posts like “My top 10 books of 2010!” and the number would go higher every year. I’m not judging you if you did this yourself. If you did end up doing this, then kudos to you and I hope you had fun creating those posts. For me personally though, I don’t like narrowing down my favourite reads to a certain number. — I 100% prefer to just…let my favourite reads be my favourite reads without having to narrow them down.

With that been said, I’ve listed my 11 favourite reads out of the 156 novels I read last year.

Without a further ado, here are my favourite reads of 2018!

The Wild Hunt (Faerie Sworn, #1, and trilogy) by Ron C. Nieto

Let me just say that I loved everything about this series. I genuinely enjoyed reading about the whirlwind that our main character, Lily, rode on. What I also liked about this series was that the male fae that accompanied Lily is…who he is. Haha, that was me avoiding any spoilers. (my review)

September ’18 Wrap Up

Hello friends! It’s now officially the end of September!

Which is slightly upsetting on my part because September is my favourite Autumn month.

I don’t know about you, but for me September screams “new beginnings” to me.  Which is why I figured that at the beginning of September my mind kept reaching for romance novels. Just….romance novels. Which is odd, but I guess it’s the whole coziness that had me lovey-dovey.

Yet I knew that I also wanted to read fantasy books! Characters who are assassins, or characters just finding out that they have magic themselves. Or maybe these characters are falling in love for the first time.. Maybe all three?! I had no idea. But my mind was screaming “romance romance romance” to me, and I had to try and oblige, hahaha.

I had no set TBR for September, but I did want to read a few of the books that I own. Whether that book I read would be a re-read, or reading the story for the first time.

Library Reads #40

Library Reads: I’m a huge fan of libraries. I tend to visit the library quite often, and I even come across great finds. These Library Reads’ posts are where I write a tad about the books I’ve borrowed.

In this post I’ll write about what I expect from this novel prior to me actually reading the story. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentences. From doing these posts I hope to spread a little of my love for libraries and the stories they can give us. 

Hello friends! Today I’m posting about the books I’ve borrowed recently from the libraries I go to. If you’ve read any of these books I’d love to know your thoughts on them, or maybe even link your review!

There are quite a few books in this post that I am 100% looking forward to reading. I’ve been in a Fantasy and Mystery binge lately, so if you have any recommendations hand ’em over! I love getting book recommendations.

The following books are the ones I’ve borrowed around the time of late July to the end of August.

To Right the Wrongs, by Sheryl Scarborough | Book Review #400

To Right the Wrongs is the second book in the Erin Blake duology.

Barely three weeks after catching the killer of Erin’s mother and their biology teacher, Erin and her crew are back, up to their elbows in forensics projects. But this time it’s with the full approval of their parents.

With Uncle Victor at the helm, Erin and her best friends, Spam and Lysa, are prepping a new classroom for CSI summer camp, where they will serve as camp counselors. Meanwhile, Erin’s super-hot new boyfriend, Journey, is graduating, just in time for him to take a position as Victor’s intern in the new CSI lab on campus. Journey and Victor are going to take another look at the evidence in the murder trial that sent Journey’s father to prison. The girls are under strict orders not to meddle with the murder case, but that’s easier said than done…

To Right the Wrongs captures how danger is really never too far from Erin and her friends. We once again get to see how Erin’s mind works, in that Erin is capable of finding clues and connecting the dots to things that would have otherwise been overlooked. Erin’s a teenager in her junior year of high school, but has already solved one murder, and now in To Right the Wrongs, she ends up helping her Uncle Victor and her boyfriend Journey, try to acquit Journey’s father from prison.

Along the way Erin and her friends end up indirectly helping another case.

When I first heard about To Right the Wrongs; the sequel to To Catch a Killer, I knew i had to get my hands on a copy ASAP. So I was incredibly happy and over the moon when I saw that my library had acquired a copy. I didn’t want to get my hopes up and have my expectations fall through, so I read To Right the Wrongs with very little expectations.
