August 2019 Wrap Up

Hello lovelies!

Today I have my August 2019 Wrap Up. I can’t believe how fast the month of August went by. I don’t know about you, but to me, August seems to be one of the faster months of the year. During August I had a lot going on personally, and blog-wise as well.

In August I had family from out of town visit. I also started a big Project that I hope to announce sometime soon (perhaps in the next few weeks) as well.

Blog wise, I had a lot going on too. An overload of book reviews, which might be dwindling down within the rest of the year (because of the Big Project). I also had time to post non-book-review-y things this month as well.

How was your August 2019?

Enjoy! Continue reading

September 2017 Wrap Up

unnamed

My TBR this September contained 5 books. I usually have a max of 3 books a month, since that seems to be the amount of books that I can handle. However, I got stressed and amped the books up from the usual 3 books to 5 books. Especially with reading library books, and just being busy with life in general.

The books that I had on my TBR this month (from left to right) were: I See You by Clare Mackintosh, Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody, The Beast is an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke, Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep.

Of the 5 books I had on my TBR this month, I only managed to read 2 of them; The Daughter of the Burning City, and, Spider’s Bite. However, I did start reading I See You — but I See You is so incredibly detailed (and I’m only 10 pages in) that the book is slower than I thought it would be.

The Books I read this September (15):

The Body in the Woods, by April Henry | Book Review #258

Book Review

18490532In this new series told from multiple perspectives, teen members of a search and rescue team discover a dead body in the woods.

Alexis, Nick, and Ruby have very different backgrounds: Alexis has spent her life covering for her mom’s mental illness, Nick’s bravado hides his fear of not being good enough, and Ruby just wants to pursue her eccentric interests in a world that doesn’t understand her. When the three teens join Portland County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, they are teamed up to search for a autistic man lost in the woods. What they find instead is a dead body. In a friendship that will be forged in danger, fear, and courage, the three team up to find the girl’s killer—before he can strike one of their own.

This first book in April Henry’s Point Last Seen YA mystery series is full of riveting suspense, putting readers in the middle of harrowing rescues and crime scene investigations.

Trigger Warning: Murder

I didn’t know what to expect in The Body in the Woods. All I knew about this book, this series really, was that it is a Mystery. And what a mystery this book was!

Told in multiple points of view, we have Nick, Alexa, and Ruby. We have a few other points of view as well, but these views only have a chapter. We even get a chapter or two in the point of view from the murderer.

I found that the plot to this book was more of a slow burn, then at the peak almost everything happens at once. After we find out for then finally trickling down to a “normal” pace. Having said that we pretty much get a sense of what happened from Nick, Alexa, and Ruby.

unnamed-15I didn’t know for sure who the killer was until the last little bit of the book. Which was surprising in itself. I admire Henry’s writing and how everything surrounding the murderer was pretty hush hush until it was time for the reveal.

At the beginning I didn’t really appreciate Alexa, Nick and Ruby’s views, but how they’ve proven to be important to the story, I value their views on things. Everything about The Body in the Woods was interesting. Everything. I’m not even kidding.

I liked how by the end of the book, these three end up friends. The three of them aren’t really averse to each other in the beginning, but they’re more distant than anything else. So I enjoyed seeing them become friends by the end of the book.

I ended up giving The Body in the Woods, 3 of 5 stars on Goodreads.

Have you read The Body in the Woods?

Happy Reading!

July Wrap Up | 2017

monthly-wrap-up-book-haul-1Hello, everyone! Today’s post will be my Wrap-Up for July. July was an especially weird month for me, weather wise. I remember it rained for a little bit here and there. Usually in the summer months it doesn’t rain. At all. Let’s get down to it, shall we?

unnamed-16My TBR for July consisted of 4 books: The first book would be a re-read, and the rest being books I haven’t read before but, they’re part of their own series. The books making my TBR this month were (from left to right): The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (The Ubncemoning of Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin, The Infinite (Gates of Thread and Stone, #2) by Lori M. Lee, Frost Like Night (Snow Like Ashes, #3) by Sara Raasch, and finally, The Fate of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #3) by Erika Johansen. Continue reading

Library Reads #28

libraryrreadsLibrary Reads: I’m a Library Lover, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from either one library, of a few libraries. I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentence’s. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little of my love for libraries, while also informing you of books that you may or may not have known of!

One of my favourite things to do is borrow books from the library. I get to borrow a book, take it home, and read it. If I end up not liking, or I didn’t enjoy the book, then it’s not problem for me! I just return the book and move on with my life.

Here are the books that I’ve borrowed from the last half of May to end of June. Let me know if you’ve read, or want to read any of these books — Enjoy! Continue reading
