Library Reads #48

Hello hello! 👋 Welcome back to my blog! Today’s post is about the books I’ve recently borrowed from the library. My Library Reads! I hope you enjoy–and let me know if you’ve read any of the books I mention today. I’d love to know what your thoughts on the book(s) are.

Library Reads: I’m a huge fan of libraries. I tend to visit the library quite often, and I even come across great finds. These Library Reads posts are where I write a tad about the books I’ve borrowed.

In this post I’ll write about what books I borrowed, and what I think of the books before I actually start reading them. Whether what I say is a sentence or a few sentences long, here I catalogue the books I’ve borrowed. — From doing these posts I hope to spread a little love for libraries and the stories they can give us.

The first time I tried to write this post, was back in August of 2020. It’s been a while since I’d done a Library Reads post.

Here’s what I’ve gotten from the library back in August 2020. It’s been a long time, I know! 😂

Library Reads #46

library readsHELLO FRIENDS! TODAY I’M TALKING A LITTLE ABOUT THE BOOKS I’VE BORROWED RECENTLY FROM THE LIBRARY.

The deal-io is that my local library just had a grand re-opening. And I went to said library the day after the grand re-opening. And then when I perused the library, I realized that there seemed to be many more books than there had been before. And thus….I borrowed 11 books…

HERE ARE THE BOOKS I BORROWED FROM THE LIBRARY IN NOVEMBER!

Enjoy!

Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene

I’ve borrowed Amber & Dusk previously but I never got around to finishing the novel. Nor did I really have the time to get into the book. I read a few pages and then bam! I had to return it to the library. Hopefully this time around, I’ll be able to complete my read through of Amber & Dusk. Continue reading

Most Anticipated Books of June 2019

Hello friends. How are you? Has May been treating you well so far?

Today I have my Most Anticipated Books of June 2019. Which is exciting, but this also means that next month is the 6th month of the year. Which also means that 2019 is already halfway done. Yikes. Time really does move faster the older you get.

Enough about me having a time crisis though. Here are the books that I’m most looking forward to.

Are there any books that you’re particularly looking forward to?

The Battlemage, by Taran Matharu | Book Review #406

The Battlemage is the 3rd book in the Summoner trilogy.

This review contains spoilers.

31145163The Wyvern turned, its eyes focused on Fletcher, and he suddenly realized how puny his sword was against the monstrosity before him. He backed away slowly. His knees trembled with exhaustion, barely able to bear his weight. He could hardly stand, let alone run.

Fletcher and his classmates from Vocans Academy—including the elf Sylva and the dwarf Othello—travel through the ether, where they must pursue a mortally dangerous quest to rebuild their world and broker peace.

As he leads a small army of soldiers, Fletcher will face his biggest challenge yet: his nemesis, the albino orc, Khan, who seeks to destroy everything Fletcher loves.

With how the last book ended, I was itching to read The Battlemage. Yet I knew that I didn’t want to read The Battlemage right away because I wanted the Summoner books to stay separate in my mind. Does that make sense? Well, it does to me!

What I definitely liked about the start of this novel was that the story started pretty much where the last book ended. Continue reading

December 2017 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello, and Happy New Year! I hope your celebrations went well, and that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

Onto the December 2018 Wrap-Up! — I didn’t have a TBR for this month, because I knew that with Chirstmas this last month, things and life in general would be incredibly hectic. Yet I managed to read 10 books! Considering it was the busy hustle-and-bustle of the Holidays and Celebrations were to be had, I did pretty well with my readings!

I bought a LOT of books in December. I only received one, which I’m not at all complaining about. I’ve read the book, and I honestly, genuinely enjoyed it. I know I’m going to re-read it this 2018 (hopefully).

The Inquisition, by Taran Matharu | Book Review #301

Book Review

25689056A year has passed since the Tournament.

Fletcher and Ignatius have been locked away in Pelt’s dungeons, but now they must face a trial at the hands of the Inquisition, a powerful institution controlled by those who would delight in Fletcher’s downfall.

The trial is haunted by ghosts from the past with shocking revelations about Fletcher’s origins, but he has little time to dwell on them; the graduating students of Vocans are to be sent deep into the orc jungles to complete a dangerous mission for the king and his council. If they fail, the orcish armies will rise to power beyond anything the Empire has ever seen.

With loyal friends Othello and Sylva by his side, Fletcher must battle his way to the heart of Orcdom and save Hominum from destruction…or die trying.

The start of The Inquisition had me totally misled. I thought that the beginning was happy, and then all of sudden we realize where Fletcher is, and why he’s there. Continue reading

October 2017 Wrap Up + Book Haul

Hello! Today’s post is my October 2017 Wrap Up + Book Haul!

IMG_5873October is one of the busier months for me personally. It’s busy because here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving on (or around) the 12th of October. Then it’s my birthday on the 25th (Two more years until my champagne birthday! Not that I’m going to drink, haha). After that, it’s Halloween!

In October I had 7 books on my TBR this month. Seven books is completely over ambitious for me, since I never really end up reading what I want to read. The books that were on my TBR this month were: The Ocean at the End of the Lane, by Neil Gaiman; Milk and Honey, by Rupi Kaur; Midnight at the Electric by Jodi Lynn Anderson; Shutter, by Courtney Alameda; Evil Librarian, by Michelle Knudsen; Labyrinth Lost, by Zoraida Córdova; and finally, The Madman’s Daughter, by Megan Shepherd. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little of my love for libraries, while also informing you of books that you may or may not have known of!

These are the books that I’ve borrowed from the beginning of September, to the first two weeks of October.
