August ’18 Wrap Up & Book Haul

IMG_6537Hello friends! It’s that time of the month again where I do my monthly wrap up! Let’s se what happened this month, reading wise, and just my general monthly update.

With only having one book on my TBR this month, I kept my August TBR super short.. The book on my TBR for this August was Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas. I’m trying to read at least one Throne of Glass book a month until Kingdom of Ash is published, in October. And I’m fallin’ behind!

Song of the Current, by Sarah Tolcser | Book Review #389

31450960Caroline Oresteia is destined for the river. For generations, her family has been called by the river god, who has guided their wherries on countless voyages throughout the Riverlands. At seventeen, Caro has spent years listening to the water, ready to meet her fate. But the river god hasn’t spoken her name yet—and if he hasn’t by now, there’s a chance he never will.

Caro decides to take her future into her own hands when her father is arrested for refusing to transport a mysterious crate. By agreeing to deliver it in exchange for his release, Caro finds herself caught in a web of politics and lies, with dangerous pirates after the cargo—an arrogant courier with a secret—and without the river god to help her. With so much at stake, Caro must choose between the life she always wanted and the one she never could have imagined for herself.

From debut author Sarah Tolcser comes an immersive and romantic fantasy set along the waterways of a magical world with a headstrong heroine determined to make her mark.

I knew little of nothing when I started reading Song of the Current. Actually, I didn’t know much about it other than Song of the Current being a YA Fantasy-Romance, and that the hardcover for this book is simply stunning.

“Sometimes,” he said with a wistful half smile, “we need others to see the good in us before we can see it in ourselves.”

Song of the Current is an interesting book. There were two things that I had predicted, and they came true, BUT! I’m not even upset about that. The Song of the Current is that good. Continue reading

July ’18 Wrap Up + Book Haul

IMG_6383I had a TBR set up for July! I should know better than this, because it never works out for me personally. So if you set up your own little monthly TBR’s that’s great!

The books I had set up on my TBR for July was: Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Ascend by Amanda Hocking, The Beast us an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale, and finally, The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I unknowingly had a fantasy theme going on! Though I did not intend to have it that way…

I ended up not completing/reading all of the books on this months TBR. Of the 5 I had set out to read, I only read one. Which I’m honestly not even upset about. So these books will go back on my shelves in hopes of reading them some other time!  Continue reading

Library Reads #39

libraryrreadsLibrary Reads: I’m a huge fan of Libraries. I tend to visit the library quite a bit, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from the library of my hometown, or one of a few libraries that I go to.

I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentence’s. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little bit of my love for libraries, while simultaneously informing you of books you may or may have not known of!

Hello friends! Today’s post is about the books I’ve borrowed from the library recently. There are a few so lets get into it! I borrowed these books on June 23rd, and on July 7th. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books!  Continue reading
