Dear Heart, You Screwed Me, by Ashlee Rose | Book Review

Hello and welcome to Adele Is Reading.
Today on the blog, I have my book review of:

Dear Heart, You Screwed Me, by Ashlee Rose.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Death of a loved one (partner), mention of Car Accident resulting in death, Grief, Sex Scenes, (Accidental) Pregnancy.

Dear Heart,

I can’t believe I am even writing this.
I wanted a fresh start, to follow a new dream that I had to find after I lost Elijah.

Moving to New York was the best thing for me.
I had it all planned out.
New Friends, New Job and a New Adventure.

And a new adventure I had.

My best friend’s dad.
It was supposed to be a taboo fling… but it was so much more.

We were tied together by more than a mutual connection.
It ran deeper than blood.

The thought of starting over again petrified me, but here I am, ready for a new beginning and the new adventure I craved, it just wasn’t the one I had planned.

Dear Heart, you screwed me.

Dear Heart, You Screwed Me is such an emotionally charged story.

37784538._SY475_He died that night, alone, in the rain, in the dark, the boy that called me baby girl.
I was only seventeen; we were going to be together forever.

On his way to pick me up for prom, he swerved. I’ll never know what made him do it, what killed the boy I’d loved my whole life. With roses clutched in his hand, he bled out in icy wetness all alone.

His best friend is here though, and I’m pretty sure he loves me.
But after the accident, I left for a year and didn’t look back.

Now I’m back in town and my heart is like shattered glass.
Do I pick up the pieces and risk getting cut? And do I let another boy call me baby girl?

WARNING: Don’t open unless you’re prepared to ugly cry, but also ready to read a story of hope and new love, a love that was there all along but patient enough to wait. This is a book about grief, about loss, but also about fresh starts and new beginnings. The ride is sad, a tumultuous twist of feelings that gets ugly at times … but the ending is a happy one.

BABY GIRL is a full-length 300+ page new adult/contemporary romance novel. It’s a stand-alone meaning this volume contains a complete story; there are no sequels and no cliff-hanger. This novel includes cursing, tears, loss, graphic sex scenes, and new hope

Please note that while there are Reverse Harem themes, a reverse harem doesn’t actually take place in this story.

The synopsis for Baby Girl may come off as Young Adult, but it’s actually New Adult. And yes, there are sex scenes. Also danger scenes. And fighting scenes involving Blood, sometimes Death (and death fighting mentions). Continue reading

Bet Me to Stay, by Candace Havens.

Trigger Warnings: Sex Scenes.

45714295._SY475_After a bet with his brother, Liam O’Connor has to date the next woman who walks into the pub. And he’s all in, because his pub is on the line. What he didn’t expect was Casey Meadows, who at first glance with her big glasses and bulky sweater looks like a woman who has many, many cats—but her wit and smile make him wonder what’s underneath her bulky armor.

Casey Meadows aka sweet romance author Cassie O’Brien is about to lose everything. As in, her writing career is going down the drain because she can’t write the sexy stuff that’s selling these days. She needs inspiration in the worst way. That’s when she walks into the wrong pub at the right time. Sexy owner Liam is just what the writing doctor ordered. Her whole body is feeling inspired—and when he makes a proposal she can’t refuse—she’s all in. Oh, hell yes. Best. Sex. Of. Her. Life. Thanks to Liam, she’s about to write a best-seller.

But having an erotic romance alter ego is nothing compared to the real secret Cassie is hiding—and that one could destroy everything.

I truly didn’t know what to expect when I read Bet Me to Stay. Going into BMtS though, I knew that there was a chance that I wouldn’t like this book; but I had hoped that I would end up liking it. Continue reading

Ace of Hearts, by Chantal Fernando | {ARC} Book Review #358

Thank you to Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books, Pocket Star, via Netgalley, for allowing me to read Ace of Hearts, by Chantal Fernando, in exchange for an honest review.

37763268The New York Times bestselling author of the “swoonworthy and addicting” (Kim Karr, New York Times bestselling author) Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series is back with more bad boy bikers in this first novel in the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club series.

Erin Dawson had the perfect life growing up in a perfect home with a perfect family. Her parents gave her and her sister everything a child could want. But after learning that the man she’s called “dad” her whole life isn’t actually her biological father, Erin is determined to find the man who is.

Armed with her original birth certificate, she finds her father, but begins questioning if her mom had been right all along to keep this information buried. It turns out he is the president of a motorcycle club, which could not be further from the life Erin leads. But, she’s determined to get to know the man who she gets her striking blue eyes from. Despite getting what she wants and finding her biological father, it’s the slightly older, much rougher but incredibly sexy biker Ace that catches Erin’s eye.

As the new “princess” of the Cursed Ravens, Erin is learning a whole new world, but her father has made it clear she is off limits. Will Ace follow his President’s orders or will he put his heart ahead of his duty? A sizzling tale of family and passion, Ace of Hearts features Fernando’s signature “snark and sass” (Booklist) and is perfect for fans of Kristin Ashley.

Publication Date: June 11, 2018.

Ace of Hearts is the first book in the Cursed Ravens MC series by Chantal Fernando.

I cannot express my absolute glee at finding Ace of Hearts on Netgalley. I’d been wanting to read a motorcycle romance for a while and Ace of Hearts seemed to fit the bill. Imagine my surprise when I was allowed access to this book! I had really high hopes for Erin’s story.  Continue reading
