The Dark Eden, by Storm Song | Book Review

Hello and welcome to Adele Is Reading!
Today on the blog I have my book review of:

The Dark Eden, by Storm Song.

The Dark Eden is the second book in the Elemental Eden series.

Trigger / Content Warning: Sex, Fighting.

Please Note that there is a chance that I didn’t get around to noting all the possible triggers within The Dark Eden.

Fire destroys everything it touches.

The elemental carriers were right when they said that it was the most potent gift.

Ever since I unlocked mine, my mind hasn’t felt the same.

It was a surge of power I wasn’t expecting, but now I’m out for vengeance.

Vengeance against Asher, Jade, and anyone who’s ever done me wrong.

I’m not the lost eden anymore, now I’m dark- and there’s no turning back.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

There are spoilers for The Dark Eden within this post. Please read at your own discretion.

Wolf Shunned, by Laurel Night | Book Review

Hello and welcome to Adele Is Reading.
Today on the blog, I have my book review of:

Wolf Shunned, by Laurel Night.

Wolf Shunned is the first book in the The Alpha Queen Legacy series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Self Defence (resulting in murder), Parent Abandoning their child, Sexism.

Please note that it is entirely possible that I missed triggers pertaining to Wolf Shunned.

It’s amazing to be a dominant wolf… if you’re male.

When you’re a nineteen year-old girl who can beat the crap out of every wolf in your pack, suddenly it’s not so great. Love isn’t everything, I know; but even the most powerful she-wolf submits to her mate. If you can’t be dominated, you can’t be mated.

And an unmated wolf has no place in the pack.

My one hope is the clan gathering in the Blackwood Forest. Every wolf in the continental Americas attends, and a few seriously sexy wolves catch my eye. I’m bound to find at least one who can match me, right?

Then there’s my other problem: My alpha is a grade-A jerk. After treating me like a genetic freak my whole life, he suddenly decides to stake a claim.

But I can’t refuse the challenge, and my wolf won’t back down. Either I submit to the alpha and become mated to his skeezy pelt, or I win the challenge and my freedom… by taking his place as alpha.

Only no one has ever heard of a female alpha, and if I become one, I’ll never find a mate.

Wolf Shunned is the first book in The Alpha Queen Legacy, featuring a badass heroine, a dark fantasy world, and loads of sexy wolf shifters. Be warned: This is a slow burn, why choose romance. Once you pick this story up, you won’t be able to stop devouring it until the very last page.

Note that beyond this point there are spoilers.

The Lost Eden, by Storm Song | Book Review

Hello and welcome to Adele Is Reading.
Today on the blog I have my book review of:

The Lost Eden, by Storm Song.

The Lost Eden is the first book in the Elemental Eden series.

Trigger / Content Warning: Drowning, Multiple Drownings, Humiliation, Murder, Blood, Wrongful Arrest.

Please note that there’s a chance that I didn’t catch any other possible triggers pertaining to The Lost Eden.

In a world ruled by elemental magic where everyone holds the ability to manipulate one element I, Eden Montgomery, was a misfit.

My entire life I thought I was a magical dud, thrown into an orphanage by my parents as a baby and forced to work a dead end job at a magical coffee shop just to get by. In a place where everyone was extraordinary I had come to terms with being ordinary.

Until my twentieth birthday when a handsome young stranger walked into the shop and my life changed forever.

But what he said couldn’t possibly be true- that I was the lost eden, a mage with the ability to control all four elements.

But when my best friend is captured by a fire wielding king hell bent on enslaving all the other mages I have no choice but to listen and try my hardest to tap into the power everyone thinks I have.

Only an eden can unite all of the magical sectors to rise up against the king.

I was prepared to master the four elements, but I wasn’t prepared to fall for the four hot elemental princes who were tasked with helping me save the world.

Can I actually master the ancient arts in time to save the world?

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

The Lost Eden was a pretty rad read, not gonna lie. I actually really enjoy reading elemental stories. I love the twists and turns that people create with them! And The Lost Eden did not disappoint.

A Crown of Smoke and Ash is the second book in The Shadow Walkers Saga.

Past me was awesome.

Saved by an angel, protected by him and the three other men I love, I learn there’s more to the mystery of my past lives than I ever could have realized.

With danger around every corner, wrongs from a long-forgotten past, and more betrayal than I ever thought possible. I try to realign a world gone awry.

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

Within this second Shadow Walkers book, the story develops quite a bit, and the flow of the story as well, is much better than the first book was.

Saved by Blood, by Sadie Moss | Book Review

Hello and welcome back to Adele Is Reading.
Today on the blog I have my book review of:

Saved by Blood, by Sadie Moss.

Saved by Blood is the first book in the The Vampire’s Fae series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Fighting, Blood, Kidnapping (Main character wakes up in a room she doesn’t recognize, and tied to a bed she can’t escape from–scene is over quickly and she’s untied, and released), Skin-carving (from an assailant), Murder mention, Kidnapping mention.

They found me nearly dead. To save me, they had to turn me…
When I moved to New York after a bad divorce, I planned to re-invent myself… I just had no idea the ‘new me’ would be a vampire.

Or that the three (yes, three!) vampires who turned me would be the hottest, most frustrating men I’d ever met.

Now creepy shadow monsters are stalking me, and I don’t know why. But teaming up with these dangerously sexy brothers may be my best chance for survival, even though being around them does weird things to my heart.

The old me was too scared to even start dating again.

The new me?

She wants to devour all three of them.

This is the first book in The Vampires’ Fae Series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for ages 18+. This book contains strong language, sexual situations, and a heroine who doesn’t have to choose between her men.

Good start to the trilogy, though I believe that I am stopping my reading of The Vampire’s Fae series.

Bane of Dragons, by Clara Hartley | Book Review

Hello and welcome back to Adele Is Reading!
Today on the blog, I have my book review of:

Bane of Dragons, by Clara Hartley.

Bane of Dragons is the first book in the Sera’s Curse series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Body Issues, Eating Issues.

NOTE: If you have even the slightest trigger within Body Issues and Eating Issues, I highly suggest that you not read Bane of Dragons since both triggers are talked about more than once. I do not have issues with either triggers, and I had trouble reading the book because of the above triggers.

I’m surrounded by dragons, and they’re all afraid of me.

At the age of nine, I mistakenly touched someone else, giving him excruciating pain. Through that awful experience, I found out that a graze of my fingertips could torment any being with dragon blood. Because I was surrounded by them in my kingdom, my ability labelled me as cursed. And with that, my family lost everything.

I promised myself to never be shunned away again. That I had to be someone important for people to look up to. A crucial vote was coming up and I would do anything to win it. Then I met them. Four hidrae princes, dragon-shifters of the most powerful kind, who were immune to my abilities. Being able to touch someone else was intoxicating. Associating with them was killing my chances of winning the vote, but the princes drew me in—Rylan with his regal demeanor, Micah with his mystery, Kael who threw all care to the winds… and Gaius? Gaius should just fall on his face and die.

Don’t miss this slow-burn reverse harem romance, set in a world of fantasy, dragons and intrigue!

Interesting story; we don’t know how the curse that Sera has comes into play, really, but this first book has set the stage for when her curse no doubt comes into more focus. Since, ya know, Sera’s Curse is the name of the series.

Today on the blog, I have my book review of:

Daughter of Persephone is the first book in the Cerberus series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Car Accident, Attempted Murder, Pain, Death scare, Sex.

Please note that I may have not wrote down all the possible triggers.

Poppy is nothing special.

She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she’s torn between being terrified and excited. That is until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.

Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds, the three heads of Cerberus, and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: keep the life she’s always had or take her rightful place as queen.

If she survives.

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

It’s safe to say that Daughter of Persephone is one hell of a start to a series. I had an absolute blast reading this one.
