For me there are always a few books in their series/trilogies/duologues that disappoint me. I’ll read the first book and then when the time comes around to read the second book, sometimes even further into the series, I find that I’m left disappointed. Either I don’t like where the story is going, the writing, or just the plot of the sequel(s).
I’ve actually gotten into the habit of starting a lot of series but never end up reading the rest of the sequels because I’m legitimately afraid that the second book will ruin the first one for me.
