Escaping Monsters, by Rita Stradling, Alexa B. James | Book Review

Hello hello, friends. Welcome back to Adele Is Reading. Today I have my book review of:

Escaping Monsters, by Rita Stradling, Alexa B. James.

Escaping Monsters is the first book in the Grayhaven series.

Link to Escaping Monsters on Goodreads.

Unfortunately it’s been so long since I’ve read Escaping Monsters, I haven’t a clue if there are any triggers within the story.

Cover of Escaping Monsters. On the cover is a young woman crouching in a forest. There are 5 wolves in the background.

First comes love…
Then comes marriage…
…and then comes my con-artist husband selling me to werewolves on our honeymoon.

On the run from my cruel captors, I stumble into Grayhaven. This secret supernatural settlement is packed with biker demons, fae royals, and witches dealing in death-magic. Their small town could be my salvation… or doom.

But when the Grayhaven werewolf pack tracks me down, I feel the noose of impending capture tightening around my throat. I’m an omega, the least dominant werewolf in the supernatural world. If I’m given an order—any order—I’m powerless to refuse.

The five dominant werewolves could enslave me with a word. Instead, they take me in, protect me, and call me their mate. I want to believe that they are mine… that I’m safe.

Yet, there is a malevolent darkness hunting me and it won’t stop until it’s claimed me once more, body and soul.

If you love sexy-as-hell alpha werewolves, feisty heroines, fated mates, and dominant shifters who would do anything to protect their mate, get ready to devour this medium/fast burn reverse harem romance!

Escaping Monsters is the first book in this steamy new Why Choose werewolf series by Alexa B James and Rita Stradling. This book is for 18 and over only please.

Seized By The Pack, by Ava Lunaria | Book Review

Hello! I’ve got another book review today. To be honest, I have enough book reviews to last me for another year or so if I were to upload one everyday. BUT for your sake, and mine, I’m trying to upload maybe….4 (max) a week?

Today’s book review is of Seized By The Pack (Paranormal Mates of Erinbren University, #1) by Ava Lunaria. Here’s the link to the synopsis on Am*zon, and this is a link to SBTP on GoodReads.

Luna Wright’s mother was obsessed with werewolves. That’s why, when abandoned by college jocks in the woods and she finds herself at the mercy of a werewolf pack, she knows the full moon could mean damnation or, if she’s lucky, salvation.
Maybe it’s time to switch her major from American mythology, to veterinary medicine.

A reverse harem werewolf romance with insta-love and a guaranteed HEA.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

Hellgate Guardians, Books 1 & 2, by Ivy Asher, Raven Kennedy | Book Review

Hello hello friends! Welcome back to Adele Is Reading.

Today I have my book review of the first two books in the Hellgate Gaurdians series.

Apologies in advance, I didn’t write down any triggers for either book, aside from Fighting, Sex, Blood, and Gore.

It’s never a good combo to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally sign your soul over to Hell.

When I interviewed for a new security job, I didn’t bat an eye that it was for a literal graveyard shift…headstones and all. I mean, at the hourly rate they were offering, who cares? I got this.

Turns out, I’m not guarding a graveyard like I thought. It seems I’ve just walked my broke ass into protecting a Gate to Hell. Yeah…I don’t got this.

Now I’m stuck in a terrifying new reality: a group of hot demons who act like I can solve all their problems, and a battle between good, evil, and balance.

This will seriously teach me to read the fine print on Help Wanted ads. Good thing this job comes with a scythe. Maybe I can use it to stop them from dragging my ass into Hell.

Grave Mistakes was … an alright start to the Hellgate Guardians series.

Funny at times, which was great. Something else that I enjoyed was the plot moving as quickly as it did.

Nevertheless, when I look back upon Grave Mistakes, I truly feel that it was just a lengthier prequel to the series.

In the end, I ended up giving GM, 2 stars.

Grave Consequences (Hellgate Guardians, #2)

If I thought that Grave Mistakes was a fast read, the wooow, I don’t know how fast I can describe Grave Consequences was.

Within this second book, we get way more answers than we got in the first book. Which is saying something, really.

I did write down that there were sex scenes in this addition, but I can’t remember whether or not there were any sexual scenes in the first book.

There are also more fight scenes in book 1 and 2 that may contain blood, and gore.

I ended up giving Grave Consequences 2 stars.

Have you read the Hellgate Guardians series?

Thank you for stopping by!

See you later,
Adele

Limitless, by Candace Wondrak | Book Review

Hello friends! Welcome back to Adele Is Reading.

How are you?

Today I have my review of Limitless, by Candace Wondrak.

Limitless is the first book in the Crystal Lake Pack series.

Wolves? Check. Magically floating books? Check. A bloody mystery years in the making? …uh, check?

All Addie ever wanted was a normal life—to graduate college and get a good job so she can support her fortune-telling, tarot-card-reading mother. Her plans are shot to heck when she finds out her mother has been keeping a very important secret from her.

As in, Addie is a shifter. A wolf shifter. And not only that, but she’s special because female shifters are rare, prized in most packs. Unique because shifters as a whole are a dying race, and it’s up to females like her to further their kind.

Thrown into pack life, Addie knows she’ll be able to walk away from it anytime she wants, which is what her mother did twenty years ago, but after meeting the pack—more specifically the wolves she’s supposed to mate with—things get complicated. Maze, Dylan, and Landon. Three very different shifters, yet each one of them stirs Addie’s inner wolf.

When one of her intended mates goes missing, Addie realizes the pack is caught up in something dark and sinister. Someone or something is hunting the wolves, taking them one by one. Death is not the only thing to fear in Crystal Lake…

Limitless is the first in a magical, action-packed shifter trilogy, where the heroine will not have to choose between love interests. Why choose?

Unwanted, by May Dawson | Mini Book Review

Hello loves! In this post I’m going to be reviewing the book,

Unwanted, by May Dawson.

Unwanted is the first book in the Their Shifter Academy series.

Trigger Warnings: Attempted Rape, Bullying, Murder, Murder Mention, Kidnapping mention, sex scenes.

46144675._SY475_By the time I walk through the doors of the academy, where the born shifters of every pack are trained to fight and lead, I’m famous. Infamous? One of those.

I’ve already fought a battle or two. And my family’s complicated relationships with magic, which has been long forbidden to wolves, isn’t popular with all the packs.

I guess I should’ve said this is the place for born male shifters. There aren’t a lot of shifters like me, with flat irons and skinny jeans packed in their bags.

There’s quite the welcome committee waiting for me.

My cadre, who want to break me down and build me back up again into a fighter.

My bullies, who just want to break me.

My patrol, who rises or falls with me.

They don’t expect me to make it to graduation in four years.

But I know I will.

Who’ll be standing with me at the end?

Their Shifter Academy is a new reverse harem romance series, set in a military academy for shifters.

Unwanted was quite interesting, in the sense that the main character doesn’t really take no for an answer when she has her mind set on something. And I really do enjoy that she’s so resilient. Like yeah, she’s being bullied–and she has appropriate and genuine reactions to being bullied.

I like different points of view, even though we mainly read from MC’s view point.

I believe, since there’s been a lot of mentioning of the main character’s sister and her sister’s Mates, that the main character herself will also have quite a few mates by the end of this series. I know by the end of this one she already had 2 or 3. Even though they were unrealized.

The storyline is intriguing, and I’m curious to know where it goes. I will be reading the second book. I’m not sure when I’ll be reading the second book, but I’m truly looking forward to reading it. I just hope that the second book will be as … charismatic as Unwanted was.

I give Unwanted, 3 stars.

Have you read Unwanted, or anything else by May Dawson?

Thank you for stopping by!

See you soon, and Happy Reading!

When Adelaide turned twenty, losing her parents and gaining custody of her fifteen year old sister was not part of her plan. If being a shifter in a world where her kind is hunted wasn’t bad enough, she now has to protect her sister too. Adie has no choice but to move into the old house her parents left them, or risk being on the streets in a dangerous world.
Only she didn’t expect to be living next door to a strange, and very attractive, group of men who are far more than human. They offer her protection in exchange for keeping their reason for hiding with the humans a secret, and helping them.
But protection comes at a cost and the cost is something none of them could have expected.
A cost that’s been destined. A cost that fate has weaved for Adelaide. A cost that even princes cannot escape.

Adelaide’s Fate is a book that I’d had my eye on for a while prior to reading. I didn’t know what to expect, as I didn’t read beyond what the cover said. Which, admittedly, isn’t a whole lot. Haha. However, I knew that because Adelaide’s Fate is a G. Bailey novel, it had to be good–and if not, Adelaide’s Fate would be at least, interesting. Continue reading

Spark, by Sadie Moss | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my book review of Spark, by Sadie Moss.

Spark is the first book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series.

Trigger Warnings: Sex Scenes, Murder Mention, Assault Mention.

44298487***Academy Reverse Harem***

Magic exists. I know—it’s in my blood.

Unfortunately, not all people from magical bloodlines have powers, and at 22, I’m several years past the age they usually appear. So I’ve resigned myself to a boring, magic-less life.

Then something strange happens…

I get stuck in the middle of a bar fight, and instead of just punching the guy back, I blow a hole in the wall.

So… I guess I do have powers. But they’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This shit is definitely not normal.

And it seems the magical authorities agree, because they give me a choice: either I go to school to learn to control my crazy new magic, or they’ll take it away. Permanently.

Now if I can just survive the bitchy mean girls determined to take me down a peg, the mysterious attacks on students, the three hot-as-hell guys who don’t seem turned off by my prickly exterior, and the professor who makes me long for detention, maybe I’ll get out of here in one piece.

Wouldn’t bet on it though.

Welcome to the Academy of Unpredictable Magic.

Spark is the first book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for ages 18+, featuring a badass chick and the four sexy men who fall in love with her.
