Hello and welcome to Adele Is Reading. Today I have my book review of:
Mr. Grumpy Boss, by Lindsey Hart.
Mr. Grumpy Boss is the first book in the Alphalicious Billionaires Boss series.
I do believe that each book in this series can be read as a standalone.
Trigger / Content Warning: Sex, Pregnancy, Pregnancy fears, Fear of Abandonment.
There may be other triggers. I can’t remember them.
My boss saw it…
The diary where I wrote all the hot shit about him.
By shit, I really mean SHIT.
Like the highest degree of criticism you will ever find.
I couldn’t help it, okay.
It’s pretty stressful working for the jerk,
And I needed a place to vent.
I just never thought I’d be stupid enough to accidentally hand over the notebook from hell to him.
Guess I might as well start writing my resignation letter.
Because there will definitely be no mercy from the Devil.
Or so, I thought.
Instead, Mr. Grumps came back with more orders.
And no, they were not orders about reformatting his documents for the nth time.
If I wanted to keep my job, I had to pretend.
Pretend not to hate him.
Pretend to be head over heels in love with him.
Pretend to be his girlfriend.
Hell, the devil really knows how to strike his bargain.
Now, I had to choose.
Which one would be worst?
Losing my hard-earned job or inviting the Devil into my life as my “boyfriend”?
SIZZLING NEW SERIES READY TO LIT YOUR LADY BITS LIKE A HOT BLAZING INFERNO! Each book in this series is a standalone and can be read in any order. And don’t forget, we are team HEA all the way!
In all honesty the story is completely, 100% awkward in the beginning of the book. And I don’t think that’s because of the characters, but rather the writing felt like the author didn’t know how to start Mr. Grumpy Boss.
Mr. Grumpy Boss was filled with what I found to be awkward scenes, and after a while I just got used to it. However, some scenes were just too freaking awkward to me, and that’s saying something. Like I’m an akward person myself in real life. ..and I couldn’t take the awkwardness.
I liked the dual points of view; especially that the male point of view had vulnerability in their chapters.
Mr. Grumpy Boss does contain sex scenes (which I found to be incredibly sexy).
I ended up giving Mr. Grumpy Boss, 2 stars.
If you’ve read MGB, what did you think of it?
See you soon, and Happy Reading!
