First Line Fridays #6

first-lines-fridays

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:

  1. Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  2. Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  3. Finally… reveal the book!

If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

Books that I’m Looking Forward to this Winter 2016 | Part 1

Hello all! So December is right around the corner, and that means that Winter is going to be here pretty quickly! The weather here has been pretty brisk when it’s not rainy. I’ve recently gotten into the habit of wearing socks to bed just to be a little warmer at night!

My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them.

The weather is supposed to get up to 27C today! That’ll be the hottest it’s been in a while! I hope I can survive today, because I don’t want to melt in the heat. But thank goodness for air conditioning! Whew!

Today’s post is all about Fantasy! The first book is more of a Dystopian, which does fall under the Fantasy genre. I’m a huge fan of Fantasy; I seem to enjoy Fantasy books way more than any other genre. Anyway – both of these books have been on my TBR for a while now. I know they’ve been on my TBR list (yes, list) for more than a year, but they’ve been on my shelf for I’d say, just about a year, if not more.  Continue reading
