My Favourite Reads of 2018

Hello friends! As the title says, today’s post is all about my Favourite Reads of 2018.

The beginning of 2018 turned out to be a great start of the year for me. I read quite a few books and they still make me feel things after the fact.

I know there are other people who like (or follow the trend) to narrow down their favourite reads to a certain number. For example, back in 2010-2015 people would have posts like “My top 10 books of 2010!” and the number would go higher every year. I’m not judging you if you did this yourself. If you did end up doing this, then kudos to you and I hope you had fun creating those posts. For me personally though, I don’t like narrowing down my favourite reads to a certain number. — I 100% prefer to just…let my favourite reads be my favourite reads without having to narrow them down.

With that been said, I’ve listed my 11 favourite reads out of the 156 novels I read last year.

Without a further ado, here are my favourite reads of 2018!

The Wild Hunt (Faerie Sworn, #1, and trilogy) by Ron C. Nieto

Let me just say that I loved everything about this series. I genuinely enjoyed reading about the whirlwind that our main character, Lily, rode on. What I also liked about this series was that the male fae that accompanied Lily is…who he is. Haha, that was me avoiding any spoilers. (my review)

June 2018 Wrap Up + Mini Book Haul

Hello, friends! How are you doing? — Today’s post is my Wrap Up post for June. We’re already 6 months into the year! The older I get, the faster time flies past me.

My TBR for June was actually only 3 books. These books were Sea of Change by Kelley Armstrong, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, and Eve by Anna Carey.

The first week of June, I actually participated in a readathon, dubbed #goatathon, over on tumblr! Three of the four books that I had planned on reading during the Goatathon were the books I marked as my June TBR! So that worked hand-in-hand for me.

My goal for my June ARC’s post was to be able to say that I finished reading all the “current titles” I had. There were five titles to work through. Three of the ARCs were Fantasy, and the last two are be Mysteries.

A meth lab explosion leaves Arlie permanently scarred — both physically and emotionally. Yet, she develops the street smarts and survival skills to keep her addict mother out of the reach of the law and hidden from her stepfather, Lloyd, the man responsible for the explosion that killed three people.
Shortly after Arlie’s 16th birthday, her mother overdoses, forcing an end to their nomadic lives. Social services steps in and rules suddenly exist where none had before. Soon, she’s living in a 31-foot Airstream trailer with an eccentric uncle and attending high school for the first time.
While her facial scar makes it hard to fit in, Arlie begins to think a normal life might be possible – that is, until her stepfather tracks her down and insists she return drug money her mother had stolen. A final confrontation tests Arlie’s idea of right and wrong, and how far she’s willing to go to protect her new life.

This review is long overdue, but since I’ve only recently gotten around to reading Burn Girl…it is better late than never.

I’ve been perpetually interested in Burn Girl for a few years. Every time I go to read it, I read the synopsis and think “Hmm, this’ll be good!” and then for some reason I move on to another book. So I’m really freakin’ glad that I finally sat down to read Arlie’s story.
