September 2019 Wrap-Up

Hello readers!

Today is the day where I post my September 2019 Wrap-Up. Let’s see what I did in the blogging world this past September, hey?

September felt like it flew by. But then again, September and onward tends to move a little more quickly than anticipated. Also, my province won’t be participating in the time-fall-back-thing, and I am pissed.

How was your September?

SPOILERS–Beyond the Mountain, by Lily Archer | Book Review

Hello lovelies! Today I have my book review of

Beyond the Mountain, by Lily Archer.

Beyond The Mountain is the fourth book in the Fae’s Captive series.

Trigger Warnings: Sex scenes, Kidnapping.

44478088Betrayal has taken Taylor far beyond my reach.

I can feel the bond stretched and twisted until it’s on the verge of snapping. But I will find her. She is mine as I am hers, and nothing will stop me from recovering my queen. I will always come for her. If she is hurt, I will heal her. If she is scared, I will wrap my arms around her, my embrace her safe harbor.

And as for the ones who took her?

I will destroy them all. Crossing the frozen heart of winter will be their final mistake. My fury will end the king beyond the mountain, and I will return to the winter realm with my queen by my side. A solid plan. One that would have worked. But when I reach the Gray Mountains, nothing is as it seems, and my mate faces a danger from the most insidious of foes – herself.

Seeing as how Beyond The Mountain is the last book in the Fae’s Captive saga (but not the overall series), I’m glad that the Fae’s Captive series still held some surprises.  Continue reading

Bite Of Winter, by Lily Archer | Book Review

Hello lovelies! Today I have my book review of

Bite of Winter, by Lily Archer.

Bite Of Winter is the third book in the Fae’s Captive series.

44081721The Red Plains are hot.
But my fae king?
Even hotter.

So, we kind of got captured by a warlike clan of Vundi warriors. Sounds bad, right? But they treat us as guests, and I’m coming to like them despite the ongoing threat of me being shipped off to the king beyond the mountain. I still endeavour to reach the winter kingdom and find a way back home… until the Vundi high priestess reveals that I may have more ties to the fae world than I ever imagined. On top of that, Leander knows just what buttons to press to get me naked, in a tub, and panting for him. My resolve is failing on all fronts. But, worse than that, I discover danger is even closer than I realised…

Bite of Winter turned out to be…funny in a few scenes, and on the other hand….beyond predictable.

The unicorn scene was freaking hilarious oh man. I could not stop laughing!

Unfortunately Bite of Winter was incredibly all too predictable. The news about Taylor’s father was so unsurprising I knew what would happen in Bite of Winter to be true when I read the last book.

I can’t say that Para and Ceret’s choices were not predictable either, because they totally were and frankly, it was just upsetting at this point.

Even though there were many times that I correctly predicted the story, I still truly enjoyed reading this third book.

I give Bite Of Winter, 3 stars.

July 2019 Wrap Up

Hello friends! How was your July?

My July was….good, at the beginning of the month. The rest of July seemed to drag on, and on and on. Yet now that I’m thinking back on this past month, time flew by. I got quite a bit of reading done, which I’m happy about. I also posted a few things as well. I’m trying to post more than just book reviews, so if you have any post recommendations throw ’em at me.

I hope July treated you and yours well.

Road To Winter, by Lily Archer | Book Review

Hey friend! Today I have my book review of

Road to Winter, by Lily Archer.

Road To Winter is the second book in the Fae’s Captive series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Poisoning.

44076710The fae king is growing on me. Every touch, look, and night spent in his arms is slowly melting my resistance. When his feral side takes over, something inside me wants to let go and give him everything. With each passing day, the pull is getting harder to deny…

But, the road to the winter realm is full of danger. And, I need to concentrate on finding my way home, not on the promises of pleasure Leander whispers in my ear at night. Even so, how long can I resist the intoxicating kiss of winter?

Within Road To Winter there are quite a few things that happen. Since there are two very different points of view within this series, both Taylor and Leander keep things interesting. Continue reading

Fae’s Captive, by Lily Archer | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my book review of

Fae’s Captive by Lily Archer.

Fae’s Captive is the first book in the Fae’s Captive series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Drugging, Abuse & Abuse mention, Slave mention.

44076072My college roommate is the worst. Cecile steals my food, brings guys over at all hours, and parties instead of studying. But those quirks pale in comparison to what she does next. She drugs me, and I wake up imprisoned in an alternate universe full of terrifying creatures.

Now, the biggest and scariest creature of all – a fae king – believes I’m his mate. He’s freed me from the dungeon, but, keeps me close. So close, in fact, that I’m beginning to like his wintery gaze and ice-chiselled body. But, secrets and villains lurk throughout this new world. And I don’t know if I’ll survive long enough to figure out how to get back home.

In Fae’s Captive, there are two points of view, Taylor doesn’t know what the hell is going on, and Leander is very focused on keeping Taylor safe, and then claiming her as his mate.

Taylor MC is thrown into this world quite literally so everything that Taylor learns, we learn too. Quite clever if you ask me. Which also makes the story more interesting than I thought it’d be.

Admittedly, Fae’s Captive is quite a short book. I think it might’ve taken me at max, 1 hour to read the entirety of this first novel.

Fae’s Captive is actually super fast paced. There’s no let-up in this story. From the time where Taylor is thrown into another world to the end of Fae’s Captive, the plot is go-go-go.

I give Fae’s Captive, 3 stars.

Fae’s Captive is the first thing I’ve read by Lily Archer, and I’m quite happy with Archer’s work.

May 2019 Wrap-Up & Book Haul

Hello friends! Welcome to my May 2019 Wrap-Up!

I hope May has treated you well; and if not I’m sorry May was a bad month for you..

My May was very entertaining reading wise. Aside from reading though, May is also one of the busiest months of the year for my family. We have Mother’s Day, my dads birthday, my parents wedding anniversary, and finally, my sister’s birthday on the 31st.

Despite the busy month, I actually managed to read a ton of books. *whispers* I also managed to buy more ebooks than I thought I did. WHOOPS!

Enjoy! Continue reading
