May 2018 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello! Today’s post will be my monthly wrap up for May. As you can see by the title, haha. I also ended up buying quite a few books, so check those out as well!

IMG_5901Knowing that I probably wouldn’t stick to it, I actually came up with a TBR this month!

My TBR for May included: The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas, Under the Empyrean Sky by Chuck Wendig, The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima, Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, and finally, A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab.

I ended up reading way more books that I thought I would’ve this month, since May is typically one of the busiest months of the year for me. Yet I ended up reading 08 books, and 10 manga. Not bad if I do say so myself! Continue reading

Chaser, by Kylie Scott | [Short] Book Review #352

IMG_5834Given his well-earned bad boy reputation, Eric is having a tough time scoring. When single Jean moves to town, she seems heaven sent by the sex gods. Only problem is, she not only wants nothing to do with him, but it turns out that she’s pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric Collins, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labour during a snow storm and her car slides on some ice, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?

I’m not going to lie, I expected a lot from Chaser. And while what I read was satisfactory, it was just that: satisfactory. I’m a little let down, but not completely. There are a couple of things that I enjoyed about Chaser. Like how the slow burn romance draws you in. And the character development was staggering. Seeing Eric do a complete 180 character turn (for the better), was a sigh to behold. I like that we saw how Eric acted around Jean and Ada. I liked seeing him be soft, and not have his friends and family expect the lowest of lows of Eric 24/7.

34348621Of course, seeing the band again was great. Seeing how their stories are progressing was incredibly heartwarming. And as per usual, their antics made me laugh out loud.

Overall, while Chaser wasn’t what I had expected it to be, I still liked reading Eric’s story.

I give Chaser, 3 stars.

Have you read any of Kylie Scott’s work?
If so, let me know!

Happy Reading!

April 2018 Wrap Up & MINI Book Haul

IMG_5560I didn’t know what April would bring, reading wise. For the first week of April I only read one book, and that’s kind of out of character for me, since I typically bing-read for the first week of the month. I was reading though. Just not books, nor manga. I discovered Webtoons! I’ve been really enjoying it, and getting to know more art styles, stories and characters. I’ve had a blast so far, using that app.

Hello! Welcome to my monthly, end of the month Wrap-Up & -sometimes- Book Haul where I talk about my readings, posts, as well as talk a little about what has happened in my life in the spans of the month.

Books Read: 16 Continue reading

December 2017 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello, and Happy New Year! I hope your celebrations went well, and that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

Onto the December 2018 Wrap-Up! — I didn’t have a TBR for this month, because I knew that with Chirstmas this last month, things and life in general would be incredibly hectic. Yet I managed to read 10 books! Considering it was the busy hustle-and-bustle of the Holidays and Celebrations were to be had, I did pretty well with my readings!

I bought a LOT of books in December. I only received one, which I’m not at all complaining about. I’ve read the book, and I honestly, genuinely enjoyed it. I know I’m going to re-read it this 2018 (hopefully).

September 2017 Wrap Up

unnamed

My TBR this September contained 5 books. I usually have a max of 3 books a month, since that seems to be the amount of books that I can handle. However, I got stressed and amped the books up from the usual 3 books to 5 books. Especially with reading library books, and just being busy with life in general.

The books that I had on my TBR this month (from left to right) were: I See You by Clare Mackintosh, Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody, The Beast is an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke, Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep.

Of the 5 books I had on my TBR this month, I only managed to read 2 of them; The Daughter of the Burning City, and, Spider’s Bite. However, I did start reading I See You — but I See You is so incredibly detailed (and I’m only 10 pages in) that the book is slower than I thought it would be.

The Books I read this September (15):

Twist, by Kylie Scott | Book Review #256

Book Review

28220678When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot, bearded, bartender extraordinaire, Joe Collins, only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, friendly, and pretty much everything he’s been looking for in a woman. And in no time at all they’re emailing up a storm, telling each other their deepest darkest secrets… apart from the one that really matters.

And when it comes to love, serving it straight up works better than with a twist.

Twist is the second book in the Dive Bar series. You can read this book as a stand-alone if you wished.

I enjoyed reading Joe and Alex’s story. I enjoyed getting to know the Alex, and to an extent, Joe as well. Continue reading

Dirty, by Kylie Scott | Book Review #253

Book Review

25671827The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.

Lydia Green doesn’t know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it’s with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she’d marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong-maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what’s wrong with getting dirty?

Dirty is the first book to the Dive Bar series by Kylie Scott. This series is also more of a Novella that makes up a series, so each book is it’s own story, yet all the stories are connected in the same world. Continue reading

August 2017 Wrap Up

unnamed-20Hello everyone! Today’s post is that of my August 2017 wrap-up. How has your August been? — It’s incredibly hard for me to believe that August has already come and pass. That tomorrow is September.

It’s always hard for me to finish my monthly TBR lists. I usually have at least 6 or 7 books planned out that I want to read. With having only 2 or 3 books on my monthly TBR now, I’ve found that it is much more manageable for me to accomplish the list I’ve made.

My TBR of this month had 3 books on it. The TBR books were: Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson. Then there was Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking, and finally, You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner. I managed to read all of this months’ TBR! This is the first (or second, I can’t really remember) time I’ve managed to read what was on my monthly TBR! Continue reading

Deep, by Kylie Scott | Book Review #247

Book Review

21853679Their one night stand wasn’t supposed to end this way…

Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins’ ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the devastatingly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben’s the only man who’s ever made her feel out of control with desire? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn’t looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.
Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She’s his best friend’s little sister, and no matter how hot the chemistry between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he’s not going to go there. But when Ben has a moment of weakness in Sin City, he learns that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible…but will it lead to a true connection of the heart?

With Deep being the last novel in the Stage Dive series, I was kind of hoping for a book that was a tad crazier, or rather, more hectic novel than the last three books. Well, I got what I wished for! Continue reading

July Wrap Up | 2017

monthly-wrap-up-book-haul-1Hello, everyone! Today’s post will be my Wrap-Up for July. July was an especially weird month for me, weather wise. I remember it rained for a little bit here and there. Usually in the summer months it doesn’t rain. At all. Let’s get down to it, shall we?

unnamed-16My TBR for July consisted of 4 books: The first book would be a re-read, and the rest being books I haven’t read before but, they’re part of their own series. The books making my TBR this month were (from left to right): The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (The Ubncemoning of Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin, The Infinite (Gates of Thread and Stone, #2) by Lori M. Lee, Frost Like Night (Snow Like Ashes, #3) by Sara Raasch, and finally, The Fate of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #3) by Erika Johansen. Continue reading
