Shocked by the death of his foster father and the revelation that his real father is the demon Lord Satan, Rin Okumura enters the True Cross Academy to learn to be an exorcist. But every great exorcist has to start somewhere, and for the students of the academy the first step is the Exwire examination. To prepare for the exam, the new pages in Yukio’s class must undergo intensive training. Rin and his classmates have their hands full when a demon appears, but is this a test or something more sinister?
It was nice seeing these characters again. Though this time, I’m seeing them for the first time in a manga format, and not in an animation.
There were a few things that I liked about this second volume.
First, mainly, was that I like how serious Okumura can be, and then in the blink of an eye he’s this dork who doesn’t even care. It’s legitimately so funny; I never fail to laugh when he’s like this. I love Okimura’s sense of moral, and his chivalry. I just love his character!
Another thing that I find chuckle-worthy is the “King of Earth,” Amaimon is. It’s funny how the King of Earth is this like, 20-year-old-looking Goth Kid with a huge pet Frog.
I love the denial that some characters are in, in the face of danger. To have Shima close the door in that demons face was honestly so freaking funny.
This second volume was very enjoyable. I especially like how all the characters’ progress is going.
