4 Disappointing Books

These days there seems to be more and more books that I’m having trouble enjoying. This is mainly because my imagination gets the best of me, and the book(s) ultimately fall to meet my expectations. Sometimes the books I read are nothing like what their synopsis’ told me they’d be like; so there’s that as well. Here are some books that have disappointed me. Continue reading

January Wrap Up & Book Haul| 2016

Where did the time go this January? I swear time both froze and sped up. I don’t know what to say actually!! A lot has happened this month. Shadow Hunters aired on TV. Since I’m in Canada though, I have to watch it on Netflix. – I’m also thinking of re-reading the TMI / TID series?? I have no idea if I should. – Hmm. What else has happened…. My cousins birthday was on the 29th. I gained a follower here on WordPress, haha. Slowly but surely, my following is growing!!

In the month of January, I posted a some reviews, posted 2 Friday Finds, read 9 books, and was allowed access to an ARC! And of course, bought 5 books… Continue reading

Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky | Book Review #64

Maddie lives in a world where everything is done on the computer. Whether it’s to go to school or on a date, people don’t venture out of their home. There’s really no need. For the most part, Maddie’s okay with the solitary, digital life—until she meets Justin. Justin likes being with people. He enjoys the physical closeness of face-to-face interactions. People aren’t meant to be alone, he tells her.

Suddenly, Maddie feels something awakening inside her—a feeling that maybe there is a different, better way to live. But with society and her parents telling her otherwise, Maddie is going to have to learn to stand up for herself if she wants to change the path her life is taking.

In this not-so-brave new world, two young people struggle to carve out their own space.

When I first heard of this book a I was so excited to read it. Now, few years later when I finally got this out from the library, I thought this book was alright. It didn’t really suit my fancy I suppose. — I just want to clarify that I wasn’t in a queue for that long!! I actually forgot a bout the book. There’s a 5 year gap between me discovering the book, and me reading it. Ha ha! Continue reading

Library Reads | #8

Cataloging the library books and what my thoughts are on them, before reading them!

Lets see what I have out this week!:

Earth Girl by Janet Edwards
According to GoodReads, Earth Girl is a book that is a YA Sci-Fi, with a Post Apocalyptic theme to it. I’m actually very interested in this book. There’s this tone to the book that drew me in. There are people who can; as far as I know,  live on any planet. But there are the few who can’t. They’re considered ‘apes’, and ‘throwbacks’. I would say that the synopsis is really well written because it gives us a lot of information, but still leaves the mystery.

A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies
I told myself that I wouldn’t ever read an Angel themed book, but I can’t seem to stay away from them! Anyway, in this book, the main character is confronted by these two guys who are her age. One she’s falling in-love with and the other she can’t stay away from. I am actually really intrigued.

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
What an awesome last name?? The only thing that I know about this book is that people seem to be loving it. I, on the other hand, have speculated about the book and am wary that the story won’t live up to the hype. So this girl is a queen of orphans?? Maybe? I actually have no idea. The cover is really pretty though, so that’s great. Haha.

Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky
Originally published a few years ago, Awaken has been on my TBR for a looong time. I had no idea where I could get this book, so when I randomly searched online for it; on my library’s site, I was surprised that my library had it!

Thanks for reading! Have you taken anything out from your library this week?

Until next time,
