Karneval Omnibus Volume 05, by Touya Mikanagi

When Nai’s bracelet mysteriously reactivates, he and Karoku find themselves transported to the wilds of an unknown land. Worried, Gareki requests a leave of absence from Chronomé Academy to join in the search for Nai, but he is forced to make a difficult decision concerning his future…

I was actually really looking forward to reading the 5th Omnibus after having been left at that CLIFF HANGER in the 4th Omnibus. Aside from that, I didn’t know what to expect so I didn’t have any predictions.

September ’18 Wrap Up

Hello friends! It’s now officially the end of September!

Which is slightly upsetting on my part because September is my favourite Autumn month.

I don’t know about you, but for me September screams “new beginnings” to me.  Which is why I figured that at the beginning of September my mind kept reaching for romance novels. Just….romance novels. Which is odd, but I guess it’s the whole coziness that had me lovey-dovey.

Yet I knew that I also wanted to read fantasy books! Characters who are assassins, or characters just finding out that they have magic themselves. Or maybe these characters are falling in love for the first time.. Maybe all three?! I had no idea. But my mind was screaming “romance romance romance” to me, and I had to try and oblige, hahaha.

I had no set TBR for September, but I did want to read a few of the books that I own. Whether that book I read would be a re-read, or reading the story for the first time.

Karneval Omnibus Vol. 03 + 04, by Touya Mikanagi | Manga Review #49 & #50

Nai and the crew of the 2nd Ship head for the metropolis of Vantonam, with 1st Ship’s Jiki on board under Captain Tsukitachi’s orders. The group takes some time off to enjoy the city, but while browsing the Nyanperona Shop, they are called out by a young boy, and…?! Later, Nai receives a secret communication with a dire message from Karoku as Circus begins planning an attack upon the “Smoky Mansion,” where Karoku says he is being held. After the fierce battle ends and the dust settles, what truth will await Nai and Gareki…?!

One thing that I really like about these Omnibus books is that at the beginning of the volumes, there is colour pages of the characters. Which indeed helps bring these characters to life in the long run.

Karneval Omnibus Vol. 02, by Touya Mikanagi | Manga Review #45

This review contains spoilers. 

Stopping by his hometown of Karasuna, Gareki runs into his old friend Tsubame, who asks him to help uncover the truth behind a string of murders that have recently been plaguing the town. Though the crew assumes that the murders were the doing of their mutant quarry, they catch Tsubame’s younger brother, Yotaka, red-handed at the scene of the latest crime. Ordering the bewildered Nai and Gareki to escape, Yogi prepares to do battle with Yotaka, but this is one fight that can only end in heartbreak for Gareki…

I actually really loved the KARNEVAL anime so I’m happy to continue on with the series via the manga. I adore the characters so I was really looking forward to reading this second volume.

I genuinely enjoy the pace of this story, and because of how fast the pace of the story is. I also love the artwork and all the characters are so adorable. Save for a couple, but that’s just personal preference.

I really liked reading this second omnibus simply because of how much I was reminded of the anime where I ended up laughing a lot while watching it.

Also, the Karneval story (both manga and anime!) are pretty wild! So much happens!

It was sad seeing the death of one of the twins happening all over again. And I didnt particularly enjoy watching that moment in the anime, either. However, apart from that, I’m glad that Tsubame ends up getting the care she needed, even if ultimately, she’s going to die at the hands of Circus (that’s just me speculating, I don’t actually know or not).

I also really enjoyed the parts where Nai eats the Zukkyu fruit, simply because it’s so cute. Nai is so cute. Also, the animal-bots that Ship #1 and #2 have are cute, fearsome and just all around awesome as well.

I found this second volume to be very enjoyable.

I give Karneval Omnibus Vol.o2, 4 stars!

July ’18 Wrap Up + Book Haul

I had a TBR set up for July! I should know better than this, because it never works out for me personally. So if you set up your own little monthly TBR’s that’s great!

The books I had set up on my TBR for July was: Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Ascend by Amanda Hocking, The Beast us an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale, and finally, The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I unknowingly had a fantasy theme going on! Though I did not intend to have it that way…

I ended up not completing/reading all of the books on this months TBR. Of the 5 I had set out to read, I only read one. Which I’m honestly not even upset about. So these books will go back on my shelves in hopes of reading them some other time!

November 2017 Wrap Up & Book Haul

Hello everyone! Today’s post will be my November 2017 Wrap-Up. It’s mindblowing that it’s already December. This year has flown by so quickly!

I limited myself to 3 books for my TBR in November. The books from top to bottom are: The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater (re-read); Zodiac (Zodiac, #1) by Romina Russell (re-read); and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Illustrated by Jim Kay) by JK Rowling.

I didn’t get around to reading my TBR at all last month. Which I’m very disappointed about, but I’m not going to let that bring me down. I read other books that were fairly interesting, so that in and of itself is pleasing.

Last month I read 7 books, gained 7 books. I reviewed 14 books, and posted 6 bookish-related posts.

Karneval Omnibus, Vol. 1, by Touya Mikanagi | Manga Review #08

Nai–a young man who travels in search of another by the name of Karoku, a lone bracelet his only lead. Gareki–a willful young man who earns his daily bread by thieving and picking pockets. I had seen the Karneval anime before reading this first Volume. I had hoped that the anime followed closely to its’ manga counterpart.
