Hello friends! Today’s post is about the book series that I want to finish within this year. Since were still in the beginning months of the year, I thought that this would be the perfect time to create this post.

First Line Fridays #8
Hello friends! Welcome to another First Line Friday post.
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!
‘The outpost gate creaked in the wind, swinging back on its hinges. It knocked lightly against the wall, a rhythmic tapping sound that echoed in the looming silence. A cold breeze swirled through the gap, and the scent of blood lay on the air like a heavy blanket.‘

October ’18 Wrap Up + BIRTHDAY Haul
Hello friends! October just passed recently, and I have been so freakin’ busy. So here’s my October Wrap Up!
I didn’t end up setting up a To Be Read list for October, just because I know that October is one of the busiest months I have yearly. However, since I accidentally ended up borrowing quite a few books from the library, I knew that I’d have to read those sometime. So why not make them my unofficially-official TBR and read a few of the books so I could feel like I actually read my TBR list this month.
Here’s what happened this month! Continue reading
October Book Releases that I’m Looking Forward to | October 2018
Hello friends! Another month approaches us, so here’s another one of my monthly posts where I talk about upcoming book releases that I’m looking forward to! There are eleven books in the list this time around. If there are any books that you think I should read (that are being published in October,) let me know in the comments!
There are a lot of interesting titles this upcoming October, but these are the ones that I’m most looking forward to.
Enjoy!
Books I Wish to Read in 2018
Hello friends! I hope everything is well with you? As I’m writing this the temperature outside has been steadily increasing. The weather for now is supposed to be at least 30 degrees Celsius for at least a week! I’ll be staying inside the whole time, thank you very much.
So I wrote a list of what books I wanted to get around to reading near the start of 2018. I actually don’t remember exactly when I wrote it… But I wrote this list down in my notebook so I wouldn’t forget, but I ended up forgetting anyway. And yes, I know we’re just over halfway through the year, but that’s still plenty of time to get around to reading the books that I want to read this year.
Apparently I wrote two lists: one for books I haven’t yet read, and the second books for books I want to re-read. Let me know if you’re interested in the second list!
For the first list, this is all for the books that I want to read this year, as well as series I want to continue on in. I’m going to keep this list short because I have less than half a year to read these books, but also because I know I won’t get around to reading all the books I want to. #NotEnoughTime Let’s get onto the list! Here There Be (Books About) Dragons! | TBR
Lately all that has been on my mind is “Dragons Dragons Dragons!” If you know me, then you know that I love all things about the paranormal, all things supernatural, and all things fantasy. Which includes Dragons.
What actually started this hunt for dragon novels was Before She Ignites. I got to thinking that there were definitely more dragon novels out there. However, I wanted to accumilate some titles slowly, so I could remember them. I didn’t want to gather a bunch of titles, add them to my TBR list and then forget.
Yet, somehow, over the last few months I’ve gathered 5 titles to briefly talk about. Some titles I’ve known of for a few years, others much more recently. So without further ado,
Here are 5 DRAGON novels that I’m excited to read:
Recent + Not so Recent Favourite Books
Hello friends! Today’s post is all about my recent + not-so recent favourite books. Some of these books, as you can tell by the title, are books that I’ve read recently that have quickly become my favourites. While some of the books are stories that I’ve read not-so recently that are still my favourites.
Do you have any newly-read books that have become your favourites?
- We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
The first book we have up in this post is We Were Liars. We Were Liars is a book that kept me completely transfixed in the story. So much so that everything that happens completely blew me away and I honestly bawled my eyes out and ugly cried. The reason why I love this book is because Lockhart’s story; the main characters’ story painted such a picture in my mind. The reason why I love this book is because this book made me cry. The Rainbow Book Tag
Hello mi amigos! Today’s post is going to be the Rainbow Book Tag. I came across this book tag from Kelly | Another Book in the Wall. I haven’t done a book tag in a long time, so I’m actually pretty excited to do tag. Let’s get down to things!
The Rules:
- Thank the lovely person that tagged you!
- It must be the dominant color of the cover, not the spine!
- It has to be a book you own or the exact copy that you read. (Ex: There are two copies of The Hate U Give, choose the cover of the copy you read)
- If you do not own a book of the certain cover, choose one that has the color somewhere on it.
- Tag some people do it! Whether they are bloggers, bookstagrammers, or booktubers. Spread the love!
- Make it a game or do the tag as originally intended.
If you want to know more about the book, all you have to do is click the books’ cover. You’ll then be taken to the books’ GoodReads page. — Enjoy!
Red
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
‘One of Lux’s hands had found mine, and even though he was mouthing No, his grip gave me the strength to meet the lady’s eyes and whisper, “Even so, I will keep my vow. Where he dies, I will die. And there will I be buried.”
And with a burst of song, the sparrow landed on my wrist.
A handful of kindness, it said to the Kindly Ones. The answer to your riddle.‘
November 2017 Wrap Up & Book Haul
Hello everyone! Today’s post will be my November 2017 Wrap-Up. It’s mindblowing that it’s already December. This year has flown by so quickly!
I limited myself to 3 books for my TBR in November. The books from top to bottom are: The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater (re-read); Zodiac (Zodiac, #1) by Romina Russell (re-read); and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Illustrated by Jim Kay) by JK Rowling.
I didn’t get around to reading my TBR at all last month. Which I’m very disappointed about, but I’m not going to let that bring me down. I read other books that were fairly interesting, so that in and of itself is pleasing.
Last month I read 7 books, gained 7 books. I reviewed 14 books, and posted 6 bookish-related posts. Continue reading
The Iron King, by Julie Kagawa | Book Review #291
Note: I’ve copied and pasted my review from my GoodReads account.
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth – that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she’ll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.
From the minute that I started reading The Iron King I was enthralled. Continue reading
