Hellgate Guardians, Books 1 & 2, by Ivy Asher, Raven Kennedy | Book Review

Hello hello friends! Welcome back to Adele Is Reading.

Today I have my book review of the first two books in the Hellgate Gaurdians series.

Apologies in advance, I didn’t write down any triggers for either book, aside from Fighting, Sex, Blood, and Gore.

It’s never a good combo to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally sign your soul over to Hell.

When I interviewed for a new security job, I didn’t bat an eye that it was for a literal graveyard shift…headstones and all. I mean, at the hourly rate they were offering, who cares? I got this.

Turns out, I’m not guarding a graveyard like I thought. It seems I’ve just walked my broke ass into protecting a Gate to Hell. Yeah…I don’t got this.

Now I’m stuck in a terrifying new reality: a group of hot demons who act like I can solve all their problems, and a battle between good, evil, and balance.

This will seriously teach me to read the fine print on Help Wanted ads. Good thing this job comes with a scythe. Maybe I can use it to stop them from dragging my ass into Hell.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

Grave Mistakes was … an alright start to the Hellgate Guardians series.

Funny at times, which was great. Something else that I enjoyed was the plot moving as quickly as it did.

Nevertheless, when I look back upon Grave Mistakes, I truly feel that it was just a lengthier prequel to the series.

In the end, I ended up giving GM, 2 stars.

Grave Consequences (Hellgate Guardians, #2)

If I thought that Grave Mistakes was a fast read, the wooow, I don’t know how fast I can describe Grave Consequences was.

Within this second book, we get way more answers than we got in the first book. Which is saying something, really.

I did write down that there were sex scenes in this addition, but I can’t remember whether or not there were any sexual scenes in the first book.

There are also more fight scenes in book 1 and 2 that may contain blood, and gore.

I ended up giving Grave Consequences 2 stars.

Have you read the Hellgate Guardians series?

Thank you for stopping by!

See you later,
Adele

October 2019 Wrap-Up

IMG_8624

Hello friends! Welcome to another one of my monthly wrap-ups.

I want to include some cute and witty banter, but honestly, I’ve got nothing😂. October, as per usual, was a particularly busy month for me, as it usually is every single year. Since I live in Canada, we had our Thanksgiving, friends giving, autumn turn over supper, in October! Then there were a few birthdays (including mine), and then it was Halloween.

So really, this past October was over and done before it had even begun.

What was your October like?

The Hidden, by Ivy Asher | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my book review of
The Hidden by Ivy Asher.

The Hidden is the first book in the Shadowed Wings series

Trigger Warnings: Sex scenes, Blood, Decapitation, Fighting.

47762658._SY475_I am a latent wolf shifter.
Or so I thought.

Then life as I knew it changed in a flash—or more accurately, an electrocution.

I’ve woken up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people who hate me. They’re in the middle of a war, and I look like I belong on the wrong side of it.

If that’s not enough to qualify as a really bad day, I now have wings and a strange animal to figure out, because it turns out that there’s not a damn latent thing about me.

If I want to live, I have to prove that I’m not the spy I’m accused of being. Then I need to figure out how the fuck to get back home before all hell breaks loose. Too bad my animal has zero interest in working with me unless it has to do with the two hot assholes that lead this rebel group.

I’m on my own, in a place I’ve never even heard of, with threats I don’t know how to defeat. And lucky me, I might as well have a rotisserie chicken living inside of me for all the help my newly discovered gryphon is.

Perfect. Just fucking perfect.

The Hidden was a truly interesting story. I couldn’t help but be captivated by the story. Rarely do I ever hear–or get to read–about shifter’s who are Gryphon’s. I was so glad that I still had my Kindle Unlimited, so I got to read this story. Continue reading
