Lemonade Stand Tag

copy-of-summer-min

Hello friends! Welcome to today’s post. As you can see by the title of this post, I’m doing the Lemonade Stand tag! The Lemonade Stand tag is a super cute tag that’s actually quite fast to do. So it’s right up my alley–I’m so excited.

The Lemonade Stand Tag was originally created by Jeimy @ A Novel Idea, though I found this tag via Lindsay @ Singer of Stories post. Check out their answers!

The Lemonade Stand Tag is part of #BESummer19, so if you’re interested in checking out the posts, I suggest you do!

Enjoy!

My Favourite Reads of 2018

FRo2018Hello friends! As the title says, today’s post is all about my Favourite Reads of 2018.

The beginning of 2018 turned out to be a great start of the year for me. I read quite a few books and they still make me feel things after the fact.

I know there are other people who like (or follow the trend) to narrow down their favourite reads to a certain number. For example, back in 2010-2015 people would have posts like “My top 10 books of 2010!” and the number would go higher every year. I’m not judging you if you did this yourself. If you did end up doing this, then kudos to you and I hope you had fun creating those posts. For me personally though, I don’t like narrowing down my favourite reads to a certain number. — I 100% prefer to just…let my favourite reads be my favourite reads without having to narrow them down.

With that been said, I’ve listed my 11 favourite reads out of the 156 novels I read last year.

Without a further ado, here are my favourite reads of 2018!

The Wild Hunt (Faerie Sworn, #1, and trilogy) by Ron C. Nieto22427190

Let me just say that I loved everything about this series. I genuinely enjoyed reading about the whirlwind that our main character, Lily, rode on. What I also liked about this series was that the male fae that accompanied Lily is…who he is. Haha, that was me avoiding any spoilers. (my review)

February 2019 Wrap Up & MAJOR Book Haul

Hello friends, and Welcome to my February 2019 Wrap Up!

I managed to read more than I thought I would, but not as much as I had wanted to. That’s 100% OK though, since life and such things can get in the way. Which, this month, it did.

IMG_7773I also acquired a lot of books in February. I don’t even know if I’ll be able to get around to reading them all or not, but I’ll have fun trying!

Onto my February To-Be-Read list though… My February TBR was a grand total of 4 books. I personally find that if I aim to read one a book a week, I’m more eager to read more than what I limit to what my TBR list includes.

The books I had on my TBR were actually four ARCs that I have. I managed to read two of the four, which is great. If I got around to completing those 4 books, I would’ve moved onto reading Wayfarer (Passenger, #2) by Alexandra Bracken, The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2) by Holly Black, and finally, These Rebel Waves (Stream Raiders ,#1) by Sara Raasch.

However, the books that I actually read were: Continue reading

August ’18 Wrap Up & Book Haul

IMG_6537Hello friends! It’s that time of the month again where I do my monthly wrap up! Let’s se what happened this month, reading wise, and just my general monthly update.

With only having one book on my TBR this month, I kept my August TBR super short.. The book on my TBR for this August was Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas. I’m trying to read at least one Throne of Glass book a month until Kingdom of Ash is published, in October. And I’m fallin’ behind!

Era of Undying, by Emilie Knight | Book Review #390

Thank you to Emilie Knight for providing me with a copy of Era of Undying in exchange for an honest review. This in no way impacted my review.

Trigger Warning: Self-Harm, Depression, and Violence

38247938There hasn’t been a Blood Warrior for decades. Everyone assumed they were extinct and couldn’t return. Turns out they were just in hiding. Pen chose to revert back to her nomadic life after the death of her family. Life was always safer that way, away from people. Now she’s been caught and odd occurrences have been happening in Ichorisis. People are surviving horrible injuries and illnesses that they shouldn’t be. Now that Pen is under custody of one of the several kings she’s been sent to fix the problem. Whether she wants to or not.

Publication Date: January 19th, 2018.

I rarely —if ever— hear about books where there is blood magic involved, so anytime I do hear about blood magic in books, I am all over them. Continue reading

July ’18 Wrap Up + Book Haul

IMG_6383I had a TBR set up for July! I should know better than this, because it never works out for me personally. So if you set up your own little monthly TBR’s that’s great!

The books I had set up on my TBR for July was: Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Ascend by Amanda Hocking, The Beast us an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale, and finally, The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I unknowingly had a fantasy theme going on! Though I did not intend to have it that way…

I ended up not completing/reading all of the books on this months TBR. Of the 5 I had set out to read, I only read one. Which I’m honestly not even upset about. So these books will go back on my shelves in hopes of reading them some other time!  Continue reading

State of the ARC #6 | July ’18

State-of-the-ARC

STATE OF THE ARC MEME

State of the ARC is a monthly meme at Avalinah’s Books meant to motivate you to finish up all your long overdue ARCs(Advanced or Early Reader Copies). You can track your reading progress and link up with your own post. Most commonly it comes out on the 30th of every month.

Hello and welcome to another State of the ARC meme! This is my 6th time participating and I’m glad to say that by joining along in this monthly meme, my feedback ratio on Netgalley has slowly but surely gone up!

My goal for July, ARC wise, was to read at least 6 Advanced Reader Copies. Doing so would have made my feedback ratio percentage on NetGalley rise to 60(ish)%. Last month I didn’t request any books, which helped me raise my percentage a bit!

Another goal I wanted to have this month, was to have less DNF’d books than the ones I finished. Enough dilly-dallying though, let’s get into it!

The ARC’s I received this month were:

  • Harbinger by Emme DeWitt; What interests me the most about Harbringer is that the main character is a banshee. I’m actually seriously intrigued and a little frightened by the cover for Harbinger. I wonder what will happen! (This one was a READ NOW)
  • The Shadow Minds Journal by Kia Carrington-Russell; There were mentionings of shadow-beings in the books’ synopsis, so obviously I had to download it!! (This one was a read now)
  • Era of Undying by Emilie Knight; The author approached me and since the synopsis is so interesting I thought I’d give this one a go! I’m actually pretty excited about Era of Undying.
  • Seventh Born by Monica Sanz; I’m extremely curious about Seventh Born because the title is something I’ve actually always been curious about ever since I watched a movie as a young’n. The seventh child of a seventh child in my mind, always holds some sort of power. Hopefully that’s the case with Seventh Born!
