October 2017 Publishings

ucbrpicHello everyone! I feel like it has been a while since I’ve done a post where I talk about the upcoming book releases that I’m particularly excited for..Even though I did write and post one last month, haha.

I don’t know about where you live, but where I live, the weather is finally cooling down. I’m also happy to report, that this summer I did not travel anywhere! Weehoo! I won’t take anymore time on this really bad intro. This months’ Publishings-that-I’m-Looking-Forward-to is kind of a long one, and I don’t want to make it any longer with the intro. So without a further ado, the books I’m looking forward to this October 2017! Continue reading

August 2017 Wrap Up

unnamed-20Hello everyone! Today’s post is that of my August 2017 wrap-up. How has your August been? — It’s incredibly hard for me to believe that August has already come and pass. That tomorrow is September.

It’s always hard for me to finish my monthly TBR lists. I usually have at least 6 or 7 books planned out that I want to read. With having only 2 or 3 books on my monthly TBR now, I’ve found that it is much more manageable for me to accomplish the list I’ve made.

My TBR of this month had 3 books on it. The TBR books were: Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson. Then there was Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking, and finally, You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner. I managed to read all of this months’ TBR! This is the first (or second, I can’t really remember) time I’ve managed to read what was on my monthly TBR! Continue reading

Year of Mistaken Discoveries, by Eileen Cook | Book Review #240

Book Review

18051087As first graders, Avery and Nora bonded over a special trait they shared: they were both adopted.

Years later, Avery is smart, popular, and on the cheerleading squad, while Nora spends her time on the fringes of school society, wearing black, reading esoteric poetry, and listening to obscure music. They never interact…until the night Nora approaches Avery at a party, saying it’s urgent. She tells Avery that she thought she found her birth mom, but it turned out to be a cruel lie. Avery feels for Nora, but returns to her friends at the party.

Then Avery learns that Nora overdosed on pills. Left to cope with Nora’s loss and questioning her own actions, Avery decides to honor her friend by launching a search for her own birth mother. Aided by Brody, a friend of Nora’s who is also looking for a way to respect Nora’s legacy, Avery embarks on an emotional quest. But what she’s really seeking might go far deeper than just genetics.

Library Reads #27

libraryrreadsLibrary Reads: I’m a Library Lover, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from libraries. I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentence’s. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little of my love for libraries, while also informing you of books that you may or may not have known of!

These books were borrowed from mid April to mid May. — Enjoy! Continue reading

Unravelling Isobel, by Eileen Cook | Book Review #181

screen-shot-2017-01-17-at-5-02-42-pm

13547344Isobel’s life is falling apart. Her mom just married some guy she met on the Internet only three months before and is moving them to his sprawling, gothic mansion off the coast of nowhere. Goodbye, best friend. Goodbye, social life. Hello, icky new stepfather, crunchy granola town, and unbelievably good-looking, officially off-limits stepbrother.
But on her first night in her new home, Isobel starts to fear that it isn’t only her life that’s unraveling—her sanity might be giving way too. Because either Isobel is losing her mind, just like her artist father did before her, or she’s seeing ghosts. Either way, Isobel’s fast on her way to being the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.

I got this book on a whim while picking up books from the library and I’m not quite sure if I should be happy that I did.. Continue reading

The Bookish Alphabet | Tag

After scouring wordpress for the pass few days looking for bookish tags to do, I came across The Bookish Alphabet tag! I’ve originally saw it off of KinmSiang’s WordPress account, and I decided to do this tag since I’ve been wanting to diversify my blog a little. Do more stuff on this blog aside from book reviews all the time. So without further do: The Bookish Alphabet tag!

The Rules for this tag are:
Pick a book that is on your shelf or one that you have read in the past and fill out each letter of the Alphabet. The idea is to use books that you have either read or that are on your TBR list.

Seems easy! Continue reading

Library Reads | #3

Here I document (in my own way) what I get out from the library and what my thoughts are about the books, before I actually get into reading the books.

Let’s see what I have out from the library today, shall we?

Even When You Lie to Me by Jessica Alcott
Just the title itself is really intriguing. But with reading the synopsis, I can already tell that some no-no lines are going to be crossed. I’m kind of nervous about this book thought. I hope it isn’t bad. [EDIT: I’ve since returned it, but when I get the chance to read it, I will.] Continue reading
