Library Reads #44

library readsHELLO FRIENDS! TODAY I’M TALKING A LITTLE ABOUT THE BOOKS I’VE BORROWED RECENTLY FROM THE LIBRARY.

Library Reads: I’m a huge fan of libraries. I tend to visit the library quite often, and I even come across great finds. These Library Reads posts are where I write a tad about the books I’ve borrowed.

In this post I’ll write about what books I borrowed, and what I think of the books before I actually start reading them. Whether what I say is a sentence or a few sentences long, here I catalogue the books I’ve borrowed. — From doing these posts I hope to spread a little love for libraries and the stories they can give us.

Have you borrowed any books lately?

HERE ARE THE BOOKS I BORROWED FROM THE LIBRARY IN APRIL!

September 2018 Books I’m Looking Forward to

ucbrpicHello friends! It’s that time of month again! Where I talk about the books that I’m interested in, which are being published next month! I’m actually really excited about this months’ post, because there is so much Fantasy! I guess Autumn is a super popular / great time to publish Fantasy books. Never fear though! There are a few YA Mystery books in here.

Let’s get onto the post, shall we? Here are the books that I’m looking forward to being published this September of 2018! There were actually quite a few books this month that caught my eye, which surprised me. Continue reading

Books I Wish to Read in 2018

BooksIWantToReadin2018

Hello friends! I hope everything is well with you? As I’m writing this the temperature outside has been steadily increasing. The weather for now is supposed to be at least 30 degrees Celsius for at least a week! I’ll be staying inside the whole time, thank you very much.

So I wrote a list of what books I wanted to get around to reading near the start of 2018. I actually don’t remember exactly when I wrote it… But I wrote this list down in my notebook so I wouldn’t forget, but I ended up forgetting anyway. And yes, I know we’re just over halfway through the year, but that’s still plenty of time to get around to reading the books that I want to read this year.

Apparently I wrote two lists: one for books I haven’t yet read, and the second books for books I want to re-read. Let me know if you’re interested in the second list!

For the first list, this is all for the books that I want to read this year, as well as series I want to continue on in. I’m going to keep this list short because I have less than half a year to read these books, but also because I know I won’t get around to reading all the books I want to. #NotEnoughTime Let’s get onto the list! Library Reads #38

libraryrreadsLibrary Reads: I’m a huge fan of libraries. I tend to visit the library quite a bit, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from the library of my hometown, or one of a few of the library systems that I visit.

I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentence’s. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little bit of my love for libraries, while also informing you of books that you may or may not have known of!

These are the books I have borrowed between April 20th to June 20th.
Have you read any of these?

The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima

I’ve borrowed The Demon King before, but before I had the chance to read it, I had to give it back to the library. Now that I have it in my hands again, I’m determined to read it! I legitimately don’t know what to expect from this book. All I know about this series is that people love it, and that it was published a few years ago so it’s fallen more or less into the cracks that is the internet. (Returned, unread)

Tiger’s Quest (The Tiger Saga, #2) by Colleen Houck

It’s been quite a while since I’ve read Tiger’s Curse, so I kind of remember what happened in the last book. And the more I think of Tiger’s Curse, I start remembering more and more, so that’s nice.

I was actually going to borrow Tiger’s Quest from my local library, but when I went a few towns to their library, I saw Tiger’s Quest and I knew that I had borrow it. Especially because this second book has been in the back of my mind for like, a year. That said, I expect that Tiger’s Quest will be one action-filled adventure. I’m excited, but I’m not going to expect much. (returned, unread)

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Ash Princess is a book taht I have heard many murmurings about, and I’ve seen a few people that I follow like this novel, so I’m going to give it a go and see what happens.

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

Tess of the Road is a book taht I have been looking forward to for a long time. I haven’t read the Seraphina novels, nor am I interested to. So I’m particularly glad that I can read Tess of the Road as a standalone.

Manga:

He’s My Only Vampire Volumes 03-10, by Aya Shouto — I actually went to the library for another book, couldn’t find it. While I was searching for it though, I found the rest of the volumes, so I just borrowed all the ones I haven’t read, hahahaha.

What was the last book you borrowed?

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Reading!

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck | Book Review #110

9284655Passion. Fate. Loyalty.

Would you risk it all to change your destiny?

The last thing Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing this summer was trying to break a 300-year-old Indian curse. With a mysterious white tiger named Ren. Halfway around the world. But that’s exactly what happened. Face-to-face with dark forces, spellbinding magic, and mystical worlds where nothing is what it seems, Kelsey risks everything to piece together an ancient prophecy that could break the curse forever.

Tiger’s Curse is the exciting first volume in an epic fantasy-romance that will leave you breathless and yearning for more.”

My only question I have about this book is this: Why did I wait so long to read it?

Even though I ended up really liking this story, there are a few things that bothered me… Continue reading

Library Reads | #10

Here’s a little story: I went out a couple towns over to get away from my sick mother, because she just turns into a blubbery baby who has just found their voice when she is sick. I don’t think I can ever be a mom; which is totally fine with me. Anyway, I went a few towns over via transit and was there for like, an hour. Which is a long time for me to be there! I went and sat down in the teen section to cool my body and to also check out the books. Got the books that interested me, then I went and got out the books that were in reserve. Then I went to my local library and got the books that were in reserve for me there, hahaha. All in all though, I was waiting for and using transit for at least 3.5 hours.

The day’s events have left me utterly exhausted from all the stress and anxiety attacks I had, but I got library books, so I feel that all of that was well worth it. Without a further ado, here are the books I’ve borrowed!

Strange Sweet Song by Adi Rule
A young soprano enrolls in a remote music academy where nothing, not even her mysterious young vocal coach, is as it seems.
Outside Dunhammond Conservatory, there lies a dark forest. And in the forest, they say, lives a great beast called the Felix. But Sing da Navelli never put much faith in the rumors and myths surrounding the school; music flows in her blood, and she is there to sing for real. This prestigious academy will finally give her the chance to prove her worth—not as the daughter of world-renowned musicians—but as an artist and leading lady in her own right.
Yet despite her best efforts, there seems to be something missing from her voice. Her doubts about her own talent are underscored by the fact that she is cast as the understudy in the school’s production of her favorite opera, Angelique. Angelique was written at Dunhammond, and the legend says that the composer was inspired by forest surrounding the school, a place steeped in history, magic, and danger. But was it all a figment of his imagination, or are the fantastic figures in the opera more than imaginary?
Sing must work with the mysterious Apprentice Nathan Daysmoor as her vocal coach, who is both her harshest critic and staunchest advocate. But Nathan has secrets of his own, secrets that are entwined with the myths and legends surrounding Dunhammond, and the great creature they say lives there.
Lyrical, gothic, and magical, Strange Sweet Song by Adi Rule will captivate and enchant readers.

I originally got this book out from one library but had to return it, so I borrowed it from my local library! I’m a sucker for books that take place in schools. I am so looking forward to reading this book though! I hope I get to it soon. There’s a lot of potential in this book; and it’s a standalone!!! Hopefully what I’ve conjured up in my head plays out to be true in the book.  Continue reading
