June 2018 Wrap Up + Mini Book Haul

IMG_6230Hello, friends! How are you doing? — Today’s post is my Wrap Up post for June. We’re already 6 months into the year! The older I get, the faster time flies past me.

My TBR for June was actually only 3 books. These books were Sea of Change by Kelley Armstrong, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, and Eve by Anna Carey.

The first week of June, I actually participated in a readathon, dubbed #goatathon, over on tumblr! Three of the four books that I had planned on reading during the Goatathon were the books I marked as my June TBR! So that worked hand-in-hand for me. Continue reading

Lover Boy, by Cassie-Ann L. Miller | Book Review #368

He’s the hot single dad next door. My brother’s best friend…And I want him to be my lover.

37536683From the first time I meet Leo Montgomery, I know that I’m in trouble. His dark, heated gaze skittering down my body sets my skin on fire. A rare sighting of his elusive, heart-stopping smile and—dear lord—I think I just ovulated. But then, he hires me to babysit his adorable little troublemaker after school and now my maternal instincts are working overtime.

It was never supposed to be more than a harmless crush on my older brother’s best friend.

But (accidentally) showing him my enormous, red granny panties was probably my first mistake. (Apparently, he’s into that sort of thing.)

That slow, sensual kiss on the back porch didn’t help matters, either.

We need an outlet for the combustible sexual tension between us. There’s no denying it. But he says he can’t be my boyfriend. He won’t let me into his closely guarded heart.

I tell him that’s okay. After all, we don’t need a title. We don’t need to be together. We can just be lovers. Can’t we?

Well, as it turns out, the road to hell is paved with good intentions…and enormous, red granny panties.

Lover Boy is the first book in the Blue Collar Bachelors trilogy. The other two books are companion novels.

I actually expected quite a bit from Lover Boy. While the book didn’t meet my expectations there were still some pretty good times to be had.

What I didn’t like about Lover Boy was that the sex scenes could have worded differently. They could have been better in that regard. The way that they’re worded in Lover Boy…the sex scenes were dull, almost. — I wanted the sex scenes to be over as soon as possible. I’m usually pretty ok with sex scenes.

What I liked about Lover Boy was that both Reese and Leo work really great together. They’re good characters individually, but together they’re exactly like two pieces of a puzzle fitting finally fitting together. Both Reese and Leo bring something to the proverbial table in this book and they have great chemistry.

I also really loved the fact that these two love-birds get a happy ending.

Overall, Lover Boy was not what I had imagined it would be, and the sex scenes could’ve used better vocabulary. I liked all of the characters in this novel. Even the ones I’m not mentioning (pretty much all of them).

I give Lover Boy, 2.5 stars.

Happy Reading!
