Today’s post is my book review of Heart of Malice, by Lisa Edmonds.

I gotta tell you that the synopsis for Dead in the Water just…sank it’s hook into me. I had to read Dead in the Water. Another thing that attracted me to this book was the cover. Holy smokes, when I see it there’s just so many questions I have, you know?

The beginning to this first Gemini book had me…..playing a game of ‘Stop, Go.’ With myself. Honestly the beginning chapters of this book were pretty stale and that had me not wanting to read the rest of the book. So I took a break from reading Dead in the Water.

My review for White Witch, Black Curse is short, and that’s because I binge-read like 4 books back to back. So this is what I’ve got written down for WW,BC.

I AM SO GLAD THAT WE FINALLY GET TO KNOW WHO KILLED Kisten. Finally! My questions have been answered!!

However, nearing the end of the novel Rachel remembered something from her childhood, and just….the way that the scene played out all innocently makes me think that in the next book this person will appear in the series and not in a good way. Long story short; the scene gave me a huge sense of dread.

All in all, I give White Witch, Black Curse, 4 stars.

I admit that when I read the first book, I wasn’t at all interested in the rest of the series. Though one of you lovely people suggested that I give the rest of The Hollow series a try, and well, now we’re here! Haha.

Gypsy’s Blood is the first book in the All The Pretty Monsters series.

I’m not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I’m sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself.
Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I’m just an ordinary girl.

I wish people would believe that.

I’ve been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.
Monster…

It took my mother’s death for me to finally start getting answers about what’s really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men…who aren’t just men. Somehow, I’ve gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I’m starting to think this is where I should have been all along.

Only…I don’t understand what’s going on. I’m walking into the middle of a story that’s thousands of years old, and I’m the new girl on the block who doesn’t have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.

They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.
Yeah…

I’ve gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.

When I first came across Gypsy’s Blood, I didn’t think much of it. I put it on my wish-list and moved on. The only reason why I read this book was because I found out that Gypsy’s Blood is a book that the reverse harem group I joined had read it (and I’m playing catch-up), and I figured I’d try it out. Like I said, I didn’t think much of this book.

What I did think of it was that it’d be alright. I could read Gypsy’s Blood and move along because I didn’t think it’d be as interesting as it turned out to be. And, friend,

I received a copy of Love is Love by Mette Bach, from James Lorimer & Company via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Overweight and unhappy at home, Emmy gets sexually involved with a popular classmate so that people will think that she is worth liking. When she realizes that he is just using her, she decides to leave her home in Winnipeg to stay with her uncle’s family in Vancouver. Emmy has always been intimidated by her perfect cousin Paige and Paige’s cool friends, so she is surprised to find that the coolest of them is transgender. Emmy is instantly attracted to Jude (who used to be Judy), and starts hanging out at the coffee shop where he works. She even performs at the poetry slam Jude hosts there.

Emmy is never sure where she stands with Jude, and can’t believe that such a confident, charismatic guy might actually be interested in her.
