Origins of the Six, by A.K. Koonce | Series Book Review

Hello hello, friendo! Welcome back to Adele Is Reading.

Today on the blog, I have my series review of the Origins of the Six, written by A.K. Koonce, Aleera Anaya Ceres.

Origins of the Six is a 4 part series.

Apologies in advance, I can’t remember, didn’t write down any triggers that may be in these books.

Academy of Six (Book 1)

Deadly monsters live in all of us.

The Academy of Six has just never seen a monster as terribly mundane as Izara Castillo. And that is a dangerous problem. She has four semesters to not only understand her supernatural abilities, but harness them as well.

Everything at the Academy is a disaster, from Interdimensional Travels through hell to the other hell they like to call Gym.

Bullies push her, test her, and simply try to kill her. A few broodingly protective roommates and a scary fake boyfriend could help. Or make her life impossibly harder.

Pretend to date the emotionally detached demon, they said. What’s the worst that could happen, they said.

It’s make or break within this prison of a school. If she succeeds, she’ll finally know what she’s capable of, who she truly is, and where she came from.

If she fails…she dies.

This is Reverse Harem series containing M/M themes. Recommended for readers 18 and over.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

WARNING: There are MAJOR SPOILERS and VULGAR LANGUAGE within this review! Please read at your own discretion.

Also: This review is like, a short as hell review since I didn’t bother writing anything down pertaining my thoughts on the individual books.

January 2020 Wrap Up

IMG_8624Hello, friends! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet.

Today I’m posting my January 2020 Wrap-Up. It’s kinda wild to think that we’re already a month in to the new decade, huh? I still can’t wrap my mind around it.

You may or may not have noticed a couple things are different, or have changed recently, here on my blog. What I’ve changed is my GoodReads widget. Before, I had my “Current Reads” up, but I changed that to my “Recently Read” because I don’t exactly update my GoodReads “Currently Reading” thing, like, at all. But, I do change my Recently Read quite a bit in comparison!

What I’ve added to my blog is a link to my shop! If you didn’t know, I now make book sleeves, and they’re pretty cute if I do say so myself! (SHOP LINK BELOW or in the menu bar) Continue reading

To Tame A Shifter series, books 2-5, by A.K. Koonce | Book Review

Hello friends! Welcome to today’s post where I’ll be doing somewhat of a series review of the last 4 books in the To Tame A Shifter series.

And yeah, the reason why I’m doing these reviews in one big (or small??) post is because I didn’t write down my thoughts on the instalments as I read them.

Here is the link to my review of Taming, the first book in the To Tame a Shifter series. Continue reading

October 2019 Wrap-Up

IMG_8624

Hello friends! Welcome to another one of my monthly wrap-ups.

I want to include some cute and witty banter, but honestly, I’ve got nothing😂. October, as per usual, was a particularly busy month for me, as it usually is every single year. Since I live in Canada, we had our Thanksgiving, friends giving, autumn turn over supper, in October! Then there were a few birthdays (including mine), and then it was Halloween.

So really, this past October was over and done before it had even begun.

What was your October like?

July 2019 Wrap Up

IMG_8624

Hello friends! How was your July?

My July was….good, at the beginning of the month. The rest of July seemed to drag on, and on and on. Yet now that I’m thinking back on this past month, time flew by. I got quite a bit of reading done, which I’m happy about. I also posted a few things as well. I’m trying to post more than just book reviews, so if you have any post recommendations throw ’em at me.

I hope July treated you and yours well.

Enjoy!

41634132I can only run from my past for so long. Eventually my Demons always find me.

Unfortunately, that Demon has hired three insufferable dragon shifters to bring me back to him.

I just have to hide my secrets a little longer. I just have to pretend to help these assholes find the person they’re looking for without letting them know the truth.

They’re on the hunt for a dangerous Mage.

Just wait until they find out the Mage they’re hunting is actually me …

This is a Reverse Harem series containing M/M themes.

I truly didn’t know what to expect when I started to read Taming, even though I read a bit of the synopsis… Continue reading

May 2019 Wrap-Up & Book Haul

IMG_8624

Hello friends! Welcome to my May 2019 Wrap-Up!

I hope May has treated you well; and if not I’m sorry May was a bad month for you..

My May was very entertaining reading wise. Aside from reading though, May is also one of the busiest months of the year for my family. We have Mother’s Day, my dads birthday, my parents wedding anniversary, and finally, my sister’s birthday on the 31st.

Despite the busy month, I actually managed to read a ton of books. *whispers* I also managed to buy more ebooks than I thought I did. WHOOPS!

An Assassin’s Deception, by A.K. Koonce & Harper Wylde | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I’ve got my review of
An Assassin’s Deception.

An Assassin’s Deception is the second book in The Huntress duology/series by A.K. Koonce & Harper Wylde.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Sexual Scenes, Blood

43252303As a rogue assassin, all the rules I used to live by have changed.

I find myself working with four sexy assassin’s who test all of my self-control. Dedicating my life to a greater cause, I’m thrown into a new case – one meant to help rather than harm. If I can just save this missing girl, I know that I’ll be able to make a new life for myself. A life with these men who have become important to me.

It feels so obtainable.

Until my case makes an interesting twist. Everywhere I turn, the League is right there, luring me back into its darkness.

Can I save the girl? Can I truly live outside the League? Or will I lose myself and everything that matters to me while trying?

This is a reverse harem series, recommended for readers 18 and over.

From GoodReads [x]:

“Reverse harem” is, literally, the opposite of “harem”, with a group of males centering round a singular female, usually with three or more males. Quite often found under the romance genre.

I, for some reason, put off reading An Assassin’s Deception for a while. I believe I put off reading this sequel because I enjoyed the first book, An Assassin’s Death, more than I thought I would–and I wanted to like An Assassin’s Deception as well.. Continue reading

April 2019 Wrap Up + Book Haul

Hello friends! Welcome to my April Wrap-Up & Book Haul!IMG_8624

This April I did not have a set TBR and for that, I am so grateful. In fact, because I didn’t set a TBR this month I’ve read more in April than I have these past few months combined! At least it feels that way. I’d forgotten how happy I am when I manage to read a ton.

Throughout April I actually bought quite a few books. And read a few of them in April?! Which is…not something that usually happens to me, haha. I’m very relieved and happy that I somehow managed to do that. I usually buy books and then forget about them. Especially e-books. Do you forget about the e-books you’ve bought too? It’s like my number one fault regarding book buying.

I also managed to post a few things that were not book reviews! Yay time management, looooool.

Enjoy! Continue reading

An Assassin’s Death by A.K. Koonce, Harper Wylde | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my review of An Assassin’s Death by A.K. Koonce, and Harper Wylde

An Assassin’s Death is the first book in The Huntress duology/series.

Trigger/ Content Warnings: Sex scenes, Attempted Murder, Murder

If you don’t like reading about sex scenes, or reading pretty smutty scenes in general, I would advise you to not read An Assassin’s Death.

40978399As an assassin of the Lifeless League, there are two rules I live by:

1. Never kill another hunter.

2. Obey orders.

When I find that my newest set of targets are branded with the Mark of the Hunter, I don’t know who I can trust anymore. I can’t take their lives without knowing why these mysterious men turned their backs on the League.

A choice will have to be made eventually. Even if they refuse to make anything easy for me. The four brooding ex-assassins give me trials, training, and tests to study my unusual powers and prove myself as one of them. A deadly plan is now in place but they’ve all made one grave mistake: Underestimating me. Because I’m adding a third and final rule to my list:

3. Survive.

This is a Reverse Harem Series, recommended for readers 18 and over.

From GoodReads [x]:

“Reverse harem” is, literally, the opposite of “harem”, with a group of males centering round a singular female, usually with three or more males. Quite often found under the romance genre.

I bought An Assassin’s Death on the whim that there would be some smutty scenes. And though I wasn’t disappointed, Continue reading
