A Crown of Smoke and Ash, by Sloane Murphy.

A Crown of Smoke and Ash is the second book in The Shadow Walkers Saga.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Sex (& BDSM).

Please note that this book may contain triggering content. Unfortunately I didn’t write down any triggers for this book, other than sex.

After having my life turned upside down, I discovered past me had left more than one thing that needed fixing.

Past me was awesome.

Saved by an angel, protected by him and the three other men I love, I learn there’s more to the mystery of my past lives than I ever could have realized.

With danger around every corner, wrongs from a long-forgotten past, and more betrayal than I ever thought possible. I try to realign a world gone awry.

Can we survive all that is to come?

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

Within this second Shadow Walkers book, the story develops quite a bit, and the flow of the story as well, is much better than the first book was.

Bane of Dragons, by Clara Hartley | Book Review

Hello and welcome back to Adele Is Reading!
Today on the blog, I have my book review of:

Bane of Dragons, by Clara Hartley.

Bane of Dragons is the first book in the Sera’s Curse series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Body Issues, Eating Issues.

NOTE: If you have even the slightest trigger within Body Issues and Eating Issues, I highly suggest that you not read Bane of Dragons since both triggers are talked about more than once. I do not have issues with either triggers, and I had trouble reading the book because of the above triggers.

I’m surrounded by dragons, and they’re all afraid of me.

At the age of nine, I mistakenly touched someone else, giving him excruciating pain. Through that awful experience, I found out that a graze of my fingertips could torment any being with dragon blood. Because I was surrounded by them in my kingdom, my ability labelled me as cursed. And with that, my family lost everything.

I promised myself to never be shunned away again. That I had to be someone important for people to look up to. A crucial vote was coming up and I would do anything to win it. Then I met them. Four hidrae princes, dragon-shifters of the most powerful kind, who were immune to my abilities. Being able to touch someone else was intoxicating. Associating with them was killing my chances of winning the vote, but the princes drew me in—Rylan with his regal demeanor, Micah with his mystery, Kael who threw all care to the winds… and Gaius? Gaius should just fall on his face and die.

Don’t miss this slow-burn reverse harem romance, set in a world of fantasy, dragons and intrigue!

Interesting story; we don’t know how the curse that Sera has comes into play, really, but this first book has set the stage for when her curse no doubt comes into more focus. Since, ya know, Sera’s Curse is the name of the series.

Wolf Forgotten, by Maya Nicole | Book Review

Hello, and welcome back to Adele Is Reading. Today I have my book review of:

Wolf Forgotten, by Maya Nicole.

Wolf Forgotten is the first book in the Arbor Falls series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Blood, Gun Violence, Gun shots, Shot by a gun, Abandonment (baby), Sex.

All I wanted was to find answers to who I was.

No one knew who had abandoned the gray-eyed baby with fiery red hair and a cry loud enough to make a man’s nuts retract.

I moved to Arbor Falls to find myself. Little did I know I’d be thrown into a world I didn’t know existed. A world with wolves at each other’s throats and enough pack politics to make my head spin.

Then there’s the fact that I have more than one mate. Not all of them accept me because there’s one gigantic problem… I’m not what they expected.

Wolf Forgotten is book 1 in the Arbor Falls series and is a reverse harem wolf shifter romance told in multiple POVs. It contains MM, mature scenes, and language.

Captive of Wolves, by Eva Chase | Book Review

Hello, and welcome to Adele Is Reading!
Today I have my book review of

Captive of Wolves, by Eva Chase.

Captive of Wolves is the first book in the Bound to the Fae series.

Trigger / Content Warnings: Bullying, Torture, Torture Mention, Cut mention, Blood mention, Blood, Self Harm mention, light sex scenes, Death, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Abuse, Physical Abuse. Stockholm Syndrome.

My blood is their salvation… and my ruin.

For years, the monsters who killed my family have held me in a cage. Brutalized and half-starved. Only kept alive so they can steal my blood.

Until one evening when four eerily gorgeous men break me out of my prison.

They give me a soft bed and delicious food. They say they’ll protect me—but their generosity may come at a price.

My rescuers are monsters like my captors: fae who shift into wolves. A curse gripping the faerie realm turns them wild under the full moon. Only my blood can cure their rage.

These fearsome men need me, and not just to lift the curse. A tragedy left them outcasts, and offering me to their rulers could win them back the home and the power they lost.

No matter how kindly they treat me, no matter how their smoldering eyes and strong hands stir unfamiliar desires in both my body and my heart, their castle is just another prison. As long as I’m a prize more than a person, my life will never be my own.

I’ve survived this long without giving up. I won’t roll over now. But how can one damaged human girl hold her own against the savage fae?

*Captive of Wolves is the first in a new paranormal romance saga featuring possessive wolf shifters, fraught fae politics, and a wounded heroine coming into her own. Grab it now and get swept away in the fantasy!*

Imprinted Tattoos (The Lost Ones, #1) by Nikita Parmenter | Book Review

Hello hello! Another book review for you today. Though today’s book review is a book that I happened to stumble upon and pretty much dove into reading it straight away. Why? Two words!!: Magical Tattoos. Yep! I said it, Magical Tattoos. I LOVE the thought of magical tattoos appearing and getting to know why these tattoos appeared/formed, what they mean. And the magical element to it?! Yes please!!!

Here is my book review of Imprinted Tattoos, by Nikita Parmenter.

Imprinted Tattoos is the first book in The Lost One’s series. As of right now there are apparently a total of 3 books out. I have no idea if there are going to be any more (but I hope there are???).

Trigger Warnings: Abuse, Parental Abuse (abusive mom), fighting, blood, gore, torture / mention, gun violence (& more that I cannot remember)

Crazy Psycho Ex? Check.
Massive Imprint Tattoo appearing and taking my total up to three now? Check.
Five deliciously gorgeous new guys at school and secrets galore? Check.

I have a feeling everything is about to change.

Sage is just done, done with the abuse that her mother puts her through daily, done with always being so alone and done with being one of the youngest humans to get an Imprint Tattoo. Only a small percentage of the human population over the age of eighteen ever receive one and they only appear when a soul changing event happens in that person’s life. Sage’s first one showed up when she was nine, yey for being weird.

She’s been fighting for so damn long and she’s just tired of it all. when she’s almost fully given up, hope comes in the arrival of five new guys at her crappy high school, the guys are shrouded in secrets but it’s not like she’s being completely honest with them either.

If Sage doesn’t let her fear control her, then she has the chance to be a part of something amazing but fate throws them all a curve ball when they realize that their lives are more intertwined than any of them could’ve imagined and as secrets about her past come to light and her psycho ex makes a reappearance she can’t help but find comfort in the five guys who give her hope.

This is a slow/ medium burn paranormal Reverse Harem.
Warnings: please be advised that this book contains dark themes, including abuse, memories of abuse from when she was a child, violence and cursing. Additionally, sexual themes suitable for mature audiences 18+.

All sex is consensual.

The Raven and the Dove has a strong prologue. The prologue didn’t even begin to warn me of the entirety of chaos that makes up The Raven and the Dove. It’s a great way to start the story–if only it wasn’t completely misleading. Continue reading

48673136._SY475_I’m Anastasia Noble, and shortly after moving to college, my life changed forever.

I became a familiar, bonded to a wolf for life and arrested simply for existing.
I woke up in the famous Familiar Empire community where I have to learn to bond with my wolf, or I can never leave.
Never again see those whom I love.
Bonding is my only option, if you could even call it an option, but add in familiars going missing every week, plus being stuck in a cabin with three mysterious, attractive, male familiars and their maddening animals…this is not going to be easy.

Wow, what a story that The Missing Wolf turned out to be.

I’ll admit that the dialogue was a little forced–seemed unnatural–but the rest of the story more than made up for it. The characters, whose view we all read from, are different to a fault. They all have different personalities, but they all share the same goal.

Anastasia is new to the familiar world, though the familiar world isn’t new news globally. I actually found that Anastasia’s character was alright, she was certainly interesting, if not a tad “Look at me, I’m different than my sister!” vibe she had going on.

The plot moved really well and the story was easy to follow.

I’m definitely looking forward to reading the second book The Dying Wolf, when it comes out March 2020!!

I give The Missing Wolf, 3 stars.

Have you read anything by G. Bailey? What was it, and did you enjoy it?

Shadow Touched, by Harper Wylde.

Shadow Touched is the first in The Veil Keeper series.

987BF7B2-925E-4210-9902-208C2F07E9D0My name is Lorn, and I’m a witch. Or at least, I thought I was.

Turns out, things aren’t always what they seem.

My magic has always been different from others of my kind—untamed. Something to hide, even in my own world, along with my monster-filled dreams and odd ‘episodes.’

When my entire life is turned upside down with a single drop of blood, the mysterious magick I’ve been trying to hide finally catches up to me.

Deserted and stranded on my own, four strangers offer me asylum and a place to call home. At least, for now.

With the help of Dason, Chayton, Axel, and Kota, I’m discovering the truth about myself as my past and my future collide. The world I grew up in was a lie, and now I’m learning how to use my magick, who my enemies are, and that the beasts stalking my sleep are actually real. And they’re my problem.

Surrounded by deadly threats, the guys and I navigate a world full of supernatural creatures, each with their own agendas, to gather the intel we need to defeat the darkness. Hopefully for good.

There’s danger in the shadows, but I’ll be dead before I let it win.

And I’m just getting started.

Before I managed to finish reading Shadow Touched, I had tried reading this book–allbeit very–briefly. And what I read didn’t interest me at all, unfortunately. However, the synopsis kept nagging and nagging at me. I decided that I had to try reading more than a few pages of Shadow Touched.

And boooooi, I’m glad that I did! Continue reading
