Hello and welcome back to Adele Is Reading.
Today I have my book review of:
Rejected is the first book in the Shadow Beast Shifters series.
Trigger / Content Warnings: Bullying, Blood, Physical Abuse, Torture mentions, Alcoholic mother, Sex Scenes (possible; can’t remember).
Please note that there may be triggers that I may have missed while reading Rejected.
My father made a terrible mistake. One I’m left paying for.
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill the alpha, I’m labeled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt.
When I can’t take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don’t like losing their punching bag. Torin, the alpha’s son, drags me back before my first shift… a shift that will reveal my true mate.
I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.
After all, no one ever rejects their true mate, right?
Wrong. Very wrong.
When the wolves attack, my soul screams for vengeance, and somehow I touch the shadow world. Somehow I bring him to our lands.
The Shadow Beast. Our shifter god. The devil himself.
Turns out being rejected by my mate was only the beginning.
All in all Rejected was a great first book. I thoroughly enjoyed it—I totally underestimated the fact that the synopsis says that the main character is pretty much anti-hero, and that a good first portion of Rejected is 100% depressing as fuck.
Like I was actually unsure on whether or not I would hold out on finishing Rejected or not. Nevertheless, I did end up finishing the book.
I want the main character to have that happy ending. I just couldn’t tell if it was in the cards for her at all.
From what I remember of Rejected, the ending of this first book does have a cliffhanger. Good news though!! The rest of the series is out. Now I’m gonna hop off the internet to read the rest of the series, hahahaha.
In the end, I gave Rejected, 3 stars.
Have you read Rejected, or anything written by Jaymin Eve?
Thank you for stopping by!
See you soon, and happy reading!
