Today’s post is a little different…I have a series of mini reviews! I want to keep Mini Book Review posts between 3 – 5 books. In these posts I won’t be sharing their synopsis’. I feel that would take up too much of your time. However, I will be including their covers, and what I thought. As well asa handy dandy link to their GoodReads page(s).

Rest In Pieces (Barbie: The Vampire Hunter, #1) by Lucinda Dark.

(Reverse Harem, Older YA / if not NA)

Trigger Warnings: Murder, Attempted Murder, Blood, Sex, and Violence. (Murder: first hand witness, family member being killed)

Let me just start off by saying that, even though I read Rest In Pieces well over a year ago now, I still remember how utterly disappointed I was. I had such high hopes for RIP, yet all I can remember is that 2 guys are into her / or are her mates, and they value the main character as more of a sex object than however she ends up in this first installation.

Rest In Pieces was the first vampire hunter book that I had read in a while, and let me tell you. I mentioned that I was disappointed, yeah? Well, not only that, but I was angry, and super disappointed. oof.

The beginning starts out as a typical “my family was murdered, so I must get revenge” type deal.

However, I did like that there were three points of view within Rest In Pieces, and I did like that Barbie, by the end of the book, did something she more than likely shouldn’t have done. …And I loved how Barbie is a badass who knows her way around guns, knives, and pointy things.

While Rest In Pieces was a good read, I seriously doubt that I’ll end up liking the rest of the Barbie: The Vampire Hunter.

In the end I gave Rest In Pieces, 3 stars.

Lawless (Steel Demons MC, #1) by Crystal Ash

(Reverse Harem, Dystopia, Romance, Fantasy, Mythology, Adult)

There are a lot of triggers within Lawless. Examples include: Blood, Kidnapping, Malnourishment, Violence, + more. The synopsis for Lawless even states “Sons of Anarchy meets The Handmaid’s Tale in this dystopian reverse harem adventure! This wild ride is not for the faint of heart and contains adult themes that may be triggering.“

All I have for Lawless is that I knew that the plot line would be dystopian, but I didn’t think “the fall” would render the world into thinking and acting as if they were in, i don’t know, the fk’in 1600’s? Where women were property?!

Overall, Lawless left a dirty aftertaste and left me feeling “meh” about the entire book. I don’t believe that I’ll be reading more in the Steel Demons MC series. Which is a damn freaking shame, since I actually had high hopes for the series.

I gave Lawless, 2 stars.

Caged (Savage Men, #1) by Clarissa Wild

(Dark, Adult Fiction, Erotica, Abuse, Warfare, Fighters, Fighting, Sex scenes)

Trigger Warnings: Kidnapping, Murder mention, Murder (witnessed), Human Trafficking, Child Abuse (gone on, and into Adult-hood), Blood, Attempted Kidnapping, Stabbing mentions.

So going into Caged, I had an inkling it would be “steamy” ’cause that’s what I’d been looking for. However! What I got was such a dark freaking “erotica” …. I can’t. Like, in reality, Caged is more like a glorified kidnapping, enemies to lovers, stockholme syndrome P.O.S. For those out there who liked, or loved, Caged, I’m happy that you enjoyed it. However, I … did not.

I actually wrote down in my notes that Caged is not only a dark book, but it’s a “humanity dark.” I truly didn’t know what to expect within Caged, but whatever I read (and I remember this book clearly), was not it. Not at all what I was looking and hoping for.

I give Caged, 1 star.

If I could give it negative stars, I would.

Bear Strength by Lilly Wilder

(Reverse Harem)

Trigger Warning: Spousal/Marital Abuse (Husband to Wife), Mention of Child Abuse (Father to Son), Suicide mention, Alcoholism mention, Kidnapping, Verbal Abuse (Husband to Wife), Gun Violence, Smoking mention.

Bear Strength was a fast read, not gonna lie. Though it was a fast read, the story itself was completely lackluster. The only reason why I ended up not DNF’ing Bear Strength was because there are 4 different view points to read from.

The sex scenes were alright. Nice to see how the main character worked through her fears though!

Something else I had appreciated was the shifting in this book. Other books tend to glorify shifting, that it’s not painful. So I was surprised that in this particular story, the guys shifting into bears is incredibly painful for them.

Call Me Daddy, by Jade West

(Adult Fiction, Erotica, BDSM, NA, Dark, M/F Romance)

Going into Call Me Daddy, I had an inkling of what would happen, but what actually happened in CMD ended up shocking me.

Prior to reading CMDI actually thought that it wasn’t going to be for me, since I highly prefer Fantasy Romance, and I was right! CMD wasn’t for me, and that’s totally okay!

Though I do appreciate the Laine & Nick for their Happily Ever After.

I give, Call Me Daddy, 1 star.

Once in a while I enjoy reading non-fantasy romance/erotica.
