Hey there, friend! Welcome back to Adele Is Reading.
How are you doing?
Today I have my book review of Undying, by Candace Wondrak.
Undying is the second book in the Crystal Lake Pack.
Since I’ve included the synopsis for Undying, which does contain spoilers.
Finding Landon and escaping the murder cabin? Done. Practicing her magic to fight the crazy death priest? In progress. Dealing with her growing feelings towards her mates? …easier said than done.
The terror haunting the Crystal Lake pack has been unmasked thanks to Addie’s hybrid heritage. Not only is she part wolf, but she also hails from a powerful bloodline. If only her magic would be enough to stop Clay.
The threat to the pack lingers, and Addie starts to realize this is where she’s meant to be. In Crystal Lake, with her three mates—the twins, Maze and Dylan, and the standoffish Landon. Her attraction to them is something she never thought she’d feel, and that says nothing about the pull she feels toward Forest, the pack’s alpha.
Her wolf wants to give in. The only question is who will she give into first?
Addie will have to figure it out, because it’s not just her heart on the line. Each and every life in Crystal Lake is threatened by Clay, and with her magic, she just might be the only one who can stop him.
Undying is the second in a magical, action-packed shifter trilogy, where the heroine will not have to choose between her love interests. This is a slow-burn, new adult novel, with a villain you’ll love to hate.
From GoodReads [x]:
“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.
So this second book, Undying, was actually a pretty fast read. Even by my standards–which might be saying something.
There was this one chapter in the book (for the life of me I cannot place it, even a year later) from Maze, that I liked reading from. I also enjoyed how realistic the relationship between Mother and daughter (Addie) is. Like I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I’m expecting to see a lot. I can’t help but have high hopes for the next book, Evermore.
At the end I didn’t like how this sequel ends mid-scene, leaving behind an epic cliff-hanger, but damn. CLIFF-HANGER. All’s good though. The third book starts almost immediately after the last word of Undying was typed.
However! By the time I found myself at the end of Undying, there were still a few things I wanted to know:
- I want to know how Addie’s father will come into play–if he does at all.
- I really want to know who the death priests master is (and I predict it’s some guy who got booted off of being one of the hight magics).
While there weren’t any sex scenes in Undying, there were some steamy scenes.
I give Undying, 4 stars.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my little review here. It means a lot!
