First Line Fridays #19

first-lines-fridays

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:

  1. Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  2. Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  3. Finally… reveal the book!

If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

Hello hello friends! Welcome to today’s post: a First Lines Fridays.

The first in over a year, haha. my FLF posts are short in nature, so let’s dive into it! This weeks first sentence is going to contain a little more than one sentence, since there’s quite a bit to the sentence, but not enough (especially for FLF posts!).

An ax swings at my head.

The dull training weapon may not be enough to decapitate me, but I know all too well the sharp sting of metal on skin.

I duck.

That’s certainly an eye catching sentence. Just from reading that first sentence I want to read more of the book, haha.

. . .

. . .

. . .

Do you know what book this first sentence is from?

It’s Warrior of the Wild, by Tricia Levenseller. — Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Adventure

How do you kill a god?

As her father’s chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: To win back her honor, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year—or die trying.

I’ve had Warrior of the Wild on my tbr, for, I don’t even know how long know. It’s just been….a few years at least.

Have you read Warrior of the Wild yet?

If you have, what did you think of it?

If you haven’t read it, are you going to?

Thank you for stopping by Adele Is Reading, today! Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

See you soon,

Adele
