Hello friends! Today I have my book reviews for the first two books in the Hidden Kingdom trilogy.
The first book is called, A Torn Paige,
while the second book is aptly named A Lost Paige.
Since this is a review for both books, I won’t be listing what the second book is about. However, I will be posting a link to the books’ GoodReads’ page.
A Torn Paige
TW; murder, hostage situation, sex, death of a major character.
One, two, things are changing for you.
Three, four, monsters at your door.
Five, six, no one could predict.
Seven, eight, you learn they’re your mates.
Nine, ten, it’s time to fight again.Paige Alice has changed, but she’s not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.
The good.
Four annoying and different types of men, who she trusts with her life. A scary but faithful sidekick, and of course, her crazy family. The bad.
…Everything else.*This is the first in a reverse harem romance trilogy. There’s adult themes, course language, humor, and mm scenes, for 18+ only.
*Sorry about the cliffhanger, but the second book will be released in early December 2019.
So I don’t remember how I came across the books, but, I found them on Kindle Unlimited (how else do I read ebooks these days), and honestly? I started reading A Torn Paige and had to take a break because I wasn’t sure on whether or not I actually wanted to go through with reading the rest of the story. A Torn Paige just didn’t seem for the kind of book for me.
I gave A Torn Paige another chance a few days (maybe a week?) later and ended up devouring it. A Torn Paige was quite the surprise! I didn’t expect to enjoy the story all that much, and when I finished reading A Torn Paige, I immediately started reading the second book, A Lost Paige.
Which, admittedly, is where I went wrong. You see, I was too excited and invested in the story to actually take the time to jot down some notes, haha.
However, A Torn Paige is one hell of a whirlwind of a story. It’s also my favourite book of the trilogy (so far, I have yet to read the 3rd book).
And with the cliffhanger that A Torn Paige ended on, I HAD TO GET MY HANDS ON BOOK 2.
I gave A Torn Paige, 3 stars.
A Lost Paige
Admittedly, there were bits and pieces in this second book that I found to be predictable. Yet I still really enjoyed the story.
There were twists and turns that I didn’t expect and for that reason, it made the story all the more enjoyable.
There are MM, FMM, sex scenes in this book so…you’ve been warned? Honestly I found all of the sex scenes in A Lost Paige were enjoyable to read.
In A Lost Paige we see Paige mourn someone she loved dearly. And this mourning reflects on everything that she does. There were moments in the story where I thought that Paige would be in mourning throughout the entirety of A Lost Paige.
We see just how powerful Paige is in this second book. And honestly? I enjoyed every minute of it.
I ended up giving A Lost Paige, 3 stars.
Have you read either of these books? If so, what did you think of them?
I gave them 3 stars each, but honestly, I feel like I should now give them 4 stars.
Thank you for stopping by!
See you soon, and Happy Reading!
Adele
