1225621._SY475_When you dance with demons, you lay your soul on the line…

In the Hollows, where the natural and the supernatural co-exist – not always peacefully – desperate times often call for unorthodox measures. But bounty hunter-witch Rachel Morgan did the absolutely unthinkable to save the lives of her friends: she willingly trafficked in forbidden demon magic. And now her sins have come home to haunt her.

As Rachel hunts for the truth behind a terrifying murder, the discovery of a shocking family secret is about to throw her entire life into question. And the long-lost ancient knowledge she seeks resides in the demonic ever-after. But there are some lines that should never be crossed–like the one Rachel Morgan’s stepping over…again!

What a whirlwind this story was! There was actually quite a bit that happens in this 6th (!!) instalment in The Hollows series. What I like about Harrison’s writing, is that no matter how much time I take from reading between this book series is that when I start reading another Hollows book, I always feel welcome. I start reading a Rachel Morgan story and I’m instantly transported into her life!

There was a big question–more like a big question mark actually, surrounding The Outlaw Demon Wails, and I’m honestly genuinely disappointed that we weren’t given answers to that question. We were given bread crumbs, and now even good ones at that. If by some freaking miracle, we ever find out who killed Kisten in the last book, I’d be surprised.

However, there are a few other things that took place in this 6th instalment that I didn’t think ever would. For some reason I didn’t ever think that we would meet Rachel’s daughter, and I didn’t ever think that Ceri would end up freaking pregnant.

There are some other things that caught me by surprise at the end of the novel as well.

On a different note, you know how enemies to friends to lovers tropes are a thing? Well such a thing did not take place in this novel, but I thought there was an actual chance that there could have been. I honestly don’t know if it’ll ever turn out that way… I kind of want to hope that it will though…

While I didn’t know what to expect going into The Outlaw Demon Wails, I had hopes that there would be questions answered. And even though that didn’t even happen at all, I still had a genuine blast diving into The Outlaw Demon Wails after I took a break from the series. The last book, A Few Demons More, completely wrecked me with how it had ended!

The ending to The Outlaw Demon Wails has me wanting to read the next book ASAP. Which I’m totally going to start reading after I finish this post since I currently have like, the next 5 books from The Hollows series out from the library.

I give The Outlaw Demon Wails, 4 stars!

Have you read The Outlaw Demon Wails? What’d you think of it?
