Hello friends, today I have my book review of
A Fistful of Charms, by Kim Harrison.
A Fistful of Charms is the 4th book in The Hollows series.
The evil night things that prowl Cincinnati despise witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan. Her new reputation for the dark arts is turning human and undead heads alike with the intent to possess, bed, and kill her — not necessarily in that order.
Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses — savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.
Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in millennia to ravage and to rule. And suddenly more than Rachel’s soul is at stake.
When I say that there was so much that happened in this 4th book, I meant it, 1000000%. There was so much happening, I couldn’t even think straight.
The antics that Rachel and co. got into within A Fistful of Charms was….quite a lot and absolutely entertaining. I remember being on the edge of my seat when I was reading this instalment.
I forget exactly what book it was in where we learned that Nick was such a shit-face, but that fact resurfaces in A Fistful of Charms. And honestly, I revelled in the fact that Nick was grovelling at Rachel’s feet. Like, yes boy, you seriously fucked up this time, and now you have to grovel at your ex-girlfriends feet, when she knows how much of an ass you are now. You true colours showed, and with everything that went down, I am completely here for Rachel’s reactions!
On a smaller, yet still related note, I freaking loved seeing how Rachel got the last word in with Nick at the very end.
Throughout A Fistful of Charms there were a tonne of emotional ups and downs that Rachel went through, and there were more betrayals that happened as well.
It’s been a while since I’ve read A Fistful of Charms, but because I have some notes on the book from when I was reading AFoC, I got to relive what I remembered very easily.
AND JENK WAS BIG SIZED HOLY MOLY.
I give A Fistful of Charms, 4 stars!
