Hello friends! Today I have my book review of:
Hungry for Her Wolves, by Tara West.
Hungry for Her Wolves is the first book in the Hungry for Her Wolves series.
Trigger Warnings: Sex Scenes, Kidnapping, Attempted Rape, Child Abuse mention, Slut-shaming.
Please Note that there are spoilers in this review.
She’s desperate to sate her hunger. They’re determined to possess her. Is she willing to give up her freedom for a taste of passion?
Amara was content to live as a lone wolf, the only one of her kind—or so she’d thought. Her world was flipped on its head when a strange man with a familiar scent showed up at her work, demanding a private meeting.
Desperate to find the mate Luc had scented from four hundred miles away, he was shocked to find her living as a lone wolf. Amaroki women were to be cherished and protected. What had happened to her family? More importantly, how was he going to convince her to return to the reservation with him? And how would his possessive brothers react when they found him with Amara?
Amara couldn’t deny her attraction to the wolf-shifter named Luc, but she wasn’t about to give up her career to mate with him and his three brothers, no matter how hot and bothered he made her. When his brothers arrived—tall, tanned, and virile—she could no longer deny her savage hunger for these shifters.
But how could she satisfy her desire and still maintain her independence with four overbearing wolves around? And how would she bond and adapt to their lifestyle when she couldn’t shake her dark memories? More importantly, how would her mates react when they learned of her past? Would they reject her, or would they risk their lives to seek vengeance on those who’ve dishonored her?
From GoodReads [x]:
“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.
Hungry for Her Wolves is a book that I downloaded on a whim because I tend to read a lot of Shifter Romance novels (if you couldn’t tell). What also drew me into reading Hungry for Her Wolves was the cover for this book…It’s intriguing, to say the least.
There are quite a few different points of view within Hungry for Her Wolves. The person we read the most from is Amara, while the other points of view are from Amara’s mates.
Each mate of Amara’s holds a very different personality. However, when you learn of the dynamics of the packs’ hierarchy you realize that there’s actually a system to the personalities. Which…irked me.
There’s one thing that I absolutely Did Not Like about the overall story, and that is the fact that they hold someone’s virginity above all else. I know that the virginity situation is held in high regard, but literally every older character is such a hypocrite. They say to not have sex with their mates before their wedding ceremony….but “marking” is okay. Even though Marking is still considered taboo—-even though the two women that Amara talked to were marked by their mates before their wedding ceremony as well. Seriously? I can’t get over that.
What surprised me about Hungry for Her Wolves was that this book was longer than the other reverse harem novels that I read. Usually reverse harem novels are around 180 pages or so. However, Hungry for Her Wolves is 226 pages. With this book being 226 pages long, it felt like I was reading a full length novel to be honest, haha. So while Hungry for Her Wolves was a lengthier novel, the story still felt like a fast read.
I’m still unsure on whether or not I’ll continue on with the Hungry for Her Wolves series. I want to read more of the series–but not if the rest of the series has more of that virginity above all else until marriage BS.
I give Hungry for Her Wolves, 2 stars.
Have you read Hungry for Her Wolves, or anything else written by Tara West? If yes, what’d you think of what you read?
I remember liking Hungry for Her Wolves, and honestly, the steamier moments were likeable as well.
What I didn’t like about this novel was how….up-tight and old-fashioned some of the characters were.
Thank you for stopping by!
See you soon, and Happy Reading!
