Hey there! Today I have my review of
I Am The Wild, by Karpov Kinrade.
I Am The Wild is the first book in the The Night Firm duology*.
Trigger Warnings: Murder mention, Domestic Abuse mention, Stalking mention, Death mention, Suicide mention.
I thought I was ordinary. More or less.
In the wake of my twin brother’s death, I was left bereft and broke, looking for a new start to life.
That’s when I saw the ad.
That’s when I met them.
That’s when I signed on the dotted line.
That’s when I discovered there is more in this world than I ever knew.
Vampires.
Monsters.
Magic.
But I haven’t discovered everything.
I haven’t discovered my own truth.
Not yet.
All I know is that in my dreams…
I am the woman in the wild.
I am the blood sister of the moon. The Night brothers need me, and not just to help with their paranormal law firm in The Otherworld.
They are being pulled into darkness.
And I will be the light to guide them out.
En lumen, et lumen.
Be in the light and of the light.
If only I can stay alive long enough.
But I’m not as easy to kill as I once thought.
I may not know what I am, but I know this.
I am the wild.
And I will be the light this world needs.* This is a reverse harem novel.
From GoodReads [x]:
“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.
The start of I Am The Wild was certainly an eye-opener into Eve’s life and how she’s dealt with things. We learn that Eve is stubborn and way smarter than she looks, which actually somehow manages to surprise her bosses. I really enjoyed that part of the novel to be honest–I was reveling in the moments where Eve surprises the guys (and anyone else around her).
The entirety of I Am The Wild was…certainly interesting to say the least. There’s a bit of action within this novel (that is not sexual). Actually the entirety of I Am The Wild held me captivated–from cover to cover. There are many things that we the reader find out in within this first novel. And for that, I am grateful. I will definitely be reading the next book whenever it comes out!
Admittedly, the story is a bit predictable. I had an inkling about the ending that came true, yet I was still surprised that the ending happened in the fashion that it had.
There’s a slow burn romance within I Am The Wild and I was there for it.
* I’m not aware of any more books in The Night Firm series.
I give I Am The Wild, 3 stars.
Have you read a Karpov Kinrade book?
I Am The Wild is the first novel that I’ve read written by the Karpoc Kinrade duo, and I’m kind of shocked that I ended up enjoying Eve’s story.
Thank you for stopping by!
See you soon, and Happy Reading!
