Taming, by A.K. Koonce | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my book review of Taming, by A.K. Koonce.

Taming is the first book in the To Tame A Shifter series.

Trigger Warnings: Fighting, Blood, Sex Scenes

41634132I can only run from my past for so long. Eventually my Demons always find me.

Unfortunately, that Demon has hired three insufferable dragon shifters to bring me back to him.

I just have to hide my secrets a little longer. I just have to pretend to help these assholes find the person they’re looking for without letting them know the truth.

They’re on the hunt for a dangerous Mage.

Just wait until they find out the Mage they’re hunting is actually me …

This is a Reverse Harem series containing M/M themes. Recommended for readers 18 and over.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

I truly didn’t know what to expect when I started to read Taming, even though I read a bit of the synopsis… What I read though, was quite entertaining. I knew that there would be Dragon Shifters (which is so cool by the way!). However, I didn’t know what role they’d play in the story.

By the end of Taming, I knew at least 2 things were true:

  • We know that Arlow; our main character, is terrified of her Ex.
  • Is in the starting stages of falling in love with her Dragons—though none of them realize there are actual feelings being felt now.

I didn’t like the prince—and I have a feeling that the prince will be an issue in the next novel(s).

I actually really like that Arlow is a beast tamer. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the main character is of that nature. I had a blast reading a little about what Arlow does, and how Arlow knows all about mythical beasts around The World within the world where Taming takes place.

The plot twist at the end of Taming has me itching to get my hands on the next book in this series.

I give Taming, 3 stars.
