Winter Heiress, by Skye MacKinnon | Book Review

Hello friends! Today I have my review of Winter Heiress, by Skye Mackinnon.

Winter Heiress is the second book in the Daughter of Winter series.

Trigger Warning: Murder, Sex Scenes, Abuse, Abuse Mention

Conceptual image of young brunette beauty and violet butterflies“Please stand for the Daughter of Winter, the Slayer of Demons, the Heir to the Throne, her Royal Highness, the Lady Wynter.”

Wyn thought everything would be unicorns and rainbows once she reached her mother’s palace.

The last things she expected were assassination attempts, the Summer King readying for war and, worst of all, frilly dresses.

But all of that is pushed to the side when one of her Guardians needs her help. They’re hers. And she’ll protect them while keeping her vow to protect the Realm. No matter the cost.

From GoodReads [x]:

“REVERSE HAREM” IS, LITERALLY, THE OPPOSITE OF “HAREM”, WITH A GROUP OF MALES CENTERING ROUND A SINGULAR FEMALE, USUALLY WITH THREE OR MORE MALES. QUITE OFTEN FOUND UNDER THE ROMANCE GENRE.

Let me tell you what a whirlwind Winter Heiress really was.

There were a few times that I was surprised by the happenings of this sequel. The first being Unicorns—-that’s all I’m saying in that regard. The second being a pretty Big test that Wyn had to go through.

There were good times, and those were genuinely great to read about.

A certain Guardian and Wyn became closer to one another, when in the previous book, this certain Guardian was more closed off than he thought he was.

Another thing that I liked about this sequel was that Wyn actually took the time to have some one-on-one time with her guys and not have to be a group all the time. Which I believe is such a healthy thing to do in a Polyamorous relationship.

However, there were bad times as well. We see how Wyn and her guys deal with said bad times—-how they dealt with these bad times really shows their character.

There was an incredibly emotional moment within Winter Heiress, which sparked Wyn to have a huge freakout. I sympathize with Wyn on what happened, and one hundred percent believe that she had a normal reaction to what had happened.

What has this review being as short as it is, is what happened both before the epilogue happened, as well as what happened during the epilogue. Another reason this review is on the shorter side is because in the moment of time I’m writing this all out, I have the third book, Winter Queen, ready and waiting to be read.

The happenings of the epilogue is actually quite heartbreaking. And also a huge setback for the Winter crew.

I give Winter Heiress, 4 stars.
