Kiss of the Rose Princess Volume 02, by Aya Shouoto | Manga Review #48

Hello friends! These are my thoughts on what happened in the second volume of Kiss of the Rose Princess by Aya Shouoto. Enjoy!

21412475Anise Yamamoto has been told that if she ever removes the rose choker given to her by her father, a terrible punishment will befall her. Unfortunately she loses that choker when a bat-like being falls from the sky and hits her. Anise is granted four cards representing four knights whom she can summon with a kiss. But now that she has these gorgeous men at her beck and call, what exactly is her quest?!

Kiss of the Rose Princess Volume 2 turned out to be an addition that I did not expect! I never thought that the story line would end up going the way it has gone..

In the first volume of Kiss of the Rose Princess, we discovered a few things. We mainly learned that Anise is the Rose Princess, and she has at least 4 (that we know of) knights. We aslo learnt that each of these knights all go to school with Anise. Another thing that we learned in the last volume was that Anise is deathly terrified of her father. And then we learn that Anise’s father learned that Anise has not followed his orders and is going back to Japan to discipline Anise.

I wondered when I finished the last volume how this second one would play out. I have genuine concerns for Anise since her father seemed….really scary, to say the least.

In this second volume we’re introduced to a new character named Narumi. I didn’t like him from when we’re first introduced to him, and I certainly did not like him when we found out what his true intentions were.

The story progressed nicely in this second volume. There’s a plot twist in the story that I did not expect. That plot twist has me particularly worried about a character that I was worried for in the first volume, but I have no doubt that this cahracter will be fine. Unless the author suddenly decided for this anime to have a darker story line.

Overall, I enjoyed getting to know these characters more. I also liked knowing where these boys (and anise) stand in terms of feelings towards one another and how everyone  in someway or another, is connected.

I give this second volume 3 stars.

Happy Reading!
