Clay Lord: Master of Golems Volume 03, by Jun Suzumoto | Manga Review #46

24464150The exciting climax to the manga trilogy about alchemy and adventure

The Earthgaia clan, the royal family of golem craftsmen, is renowned throughout the realm for creating sentient automatons of the highest caliber.

Clay Earthgaia, the sole heir to the clan, has come into his own as a skilled golem molder. Yet he hasn’t topped his earliest creations, his companion golems Kurogane and Shirogane. The two of them are so lifelike, they are often mistaken as human!

Unfortunately, the golem crafter’s guild sees the golems’ unrestricted egos as a threat. In this final chapter, Clay must choose between his future as a member of the guild and the closest thing to a family he has left. Should Clay sacrifice his past to secure his future?

Let me just say that I really enjoyed reading this manga trilogy. I’m sorry to see it go, but it will forever live on in my heart. I know how cheesy that sounds, but it’s true.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this, because I haven’t read the synopsis for this third volume. I wanted my reactions to be as genuine as possible because I probably won’t re-read this trilogy soon, if ever.

The beginning of this final volume was so bittersweet. To me, the beginning read as both the Clay’s deceased twin brothers voices as well as Kurogane and Shirogane’s voices, too.

The struggle that Clay went through in this volume hurt my heart. Of all the things he went through, Clay shouldn’t have had to deal with what happened. It happened though and because of that, everyone is stronger for it.

I loved and adored this final volume.

I give Clay Lord: Master of Golems Volume 03, 5 stars.

Happy Reading!
