Books I Wish to Read in 2018

BooksIWantToReadin2018

Hello friends! I hope everything is well with you? As I’m writing this the temperature outside has been steadily increasing. The weather for now is supposed to be at least 30 degrees Celsius for at least a week! I’ll be staying inside the whole time, thank you very much.

So I wrote a list of what books I wanted to get around to reading near the start of 2018. I actually don’t remember exactly when I wrote it… But I wrote this list down in my notebook so I wouldn’t forget, but I ended up forgetting anyway. And yes, I know we’re just over halfway through the year, but that’s still plenty of time to get around to reading the books that I want to read this year.

Apparently I wrote two lists: one for books I haven’t yet read, and the second books for books I want to re-read. Let me know if you’re interested in the second list!

For the first list, this is all for the books that I want to read this year, as well as series I want to continue on in. I’m going to keep this list short because I have less than half a year to read these books, but also because I know I won’t get around to reading all the books I want to. #NotEnoughTime Let’s get onto the list!

Unforgiven is the fifth (5th) book in the Fallen series. I’ve read the Fallen series before and wasn’t really interested in visiting it again. Yet I just might have to! Unforgiven is told in Cam’s point of view — someone who we didn’t really get to know. Cam is portrayed as an “evil” person in the series, so I’m quite intrigued about Cam’s story.

I read the first book via the library and generally thought nothing of it, after finishing the book. I returned A Darker Shade of Magic without much thought. What I actually thought was that I wouldn’t continue on with the series. …And then around Christmastime last year I went a little book crazy, and ended up buying book 1 & 2, and then book 3 sometime in the new year, I believe. So not only do I wish to read the second book, but the third as well.

These two books are those that I bought while I went on my book buying craze at Christmastime. I’ve since read these two (yay!), so I’m glad to have these two crossed off.

I’ve been wanting to finish this duology for a while now, but I keep on putting it off and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I know a few spoilers that happen in this second book? Is it because I don’t want these characters’ story to be over so soon?

I don’t know if you know this or not, but the Blood of Eden series is one of my favourite series of all time. Not only because it’s a fantasy/dystopia novel, but because the series is pretty much based upon vampires that are written with the true mythology behind it…. At least, the western world vampire mythology.

The only thing that I am upset about is that The Forever Song doesn’t match the first 2 books in the trilogy. The Forever Song is in Hardback, while the first two books are in their floppy paperback editions. Glorious floppy editions. Ooh, sidetrack for a second though — the books all have this luminescent sheen to them and it’s so pretty.

I know very little about The Beast is an Animal, and I like it that way. I actually have high hopes for this novel but I’m hoping that those hopes will soon die down a bit so I can enjoy reading the novel.

What I know of The Beast is An Animal is that I think it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling, and that on GoodReads this story is genre’d as Fantasy, Horror and YA.

I’ve read the first book and from what I remember, I really enjoyed it. I want to continue on with the story just because I find it fascinating. I actually borrowed the second book for a while there, but never got around to reading it. Hopefully with borrowing the ebook instead, I’ll get around to reading the second book: Tiger’s Quest!

I bought this book on a whim, and solely because it’s a CoHo novel. I don’t really know what Without Merit is about either. I’m hoping that I won’t get to know what this book is about until the day I open the first page.

I’m actually quite excited about Beasts Made of Night. This will be the first book I’ve read by Tochi Onyebuchi so I’m curious to find out if I like his work! Plus this story is a fantasy novel so I have hopes that I’ll enjoy it!

I have extremely high hopes for The Shaw Confessions series. I loved the Mara Dyer series, and I’ve heard that The Shaw Confessions is actually the Mara Dyer series from Noah’s point of view. Hopefully that’s true, but I’d also like to see a continuation from where The Retribution of Mara Dyer left off.

I genuinely want to finish reading the Zodiac series this year. I loved reading Zodiac the first time, so hopefully when I read it again and move on to the last 3 books of the Zodiac series, I’ll enjoy the rest of the series as well. I actually have the second and third books in my possession. Hopefully I’ll get around to reading the 2nd and 3rd books so I can buy the fourth!

These are 10 books that I want to get around to reading this year. Minus 1 because I’ve read Maybe Someday already. Which means there’s 9 books that I want to read in the remainder of this year!

This may be a small (or large?) number of books that I want to read this year, but in actuality, there are so many more books that I want to read as well. These are the ones that stick out in my mind though.

Thank you for stopping by!

Are there any books that you want to read in the remainder of time we have left of 2018?

Happy Reading!
