He’s My Only Vampire Volume 03 + 04, Aya Shouto | Manga Review #30 & 31

23341599Both reviews contain spoilers.

Upon Eve’s invitation, Aki agrees to attend the Soiree on his own. However, Kana and Jin aren’t far behind, trailing him in secret. Then, at the climax of the blood-drenched ceremonies, Kana’s “Awakening” begins at last!

It’s been a while since I last read the second volume of He’s My Only Vampire, so I kind of remembered what to expect, but I liked getting to know the story again.

AHH! I love the art that Shouto-san draws! I honestly admire how Shouto can achieve and convey such emotion from the characters.

While I don’t remember much from the last volume, this third volume has proven to be quite interesting!

I didn’t like the introduction (or continuation?) of Eve. She seems like a completely spoiled brat and I truly don’t like her character. At all.

However, what I liked about this third volume was that there were more parts of the story revealed — which was incredibly more interesting than I thought was possible.

I give this third volume, 3 stars.

He’s My Only Vampire Volume 04

24396850The angels Isuka and Hitaki have been targeting Aki all along! In order to “purge” the pureblood vampire, they bring their Swords of Judgment down upon him! Will Kana be able to help Aki out of what appears to be a life-threatening situation…for them both?!

I know that in the third volume, at the end of the 13th chapter we were re-introduced to characters, but we were introduced to them with different personas. Going into reading the fourth volume, I couldn’t help but groan internally since I knew that they were going to be a nuisance.

What I didn’t like about this fourth volume is that the ending is confusing. Or maybe I’m just not getting it? Anywho, I like seeing new characters introduced, but there were 4 new characters introduced in this volume was kinda intense.

liked that we see Aki’s better side. The one where he isn’t neutral faced, trying to save face to the world and such. And seeing Aki trying to get a rise out of Kana was pretty entertaining!

I also liked that was another character introduced to the story in the 15th chapter. I mean, we don’t really get to see their face, but we know that they like blood, and that there’s a pretty good chance that this “new character” is Eriya. Aka, Aki’s brother.

Overall, the cover for this volume was interesting to see, and the cover reveals a lot actually. Especially with what happened in the last two chapters of the third volume. And this 4th volume is actually packed with a ton of action, which makes these chapters very interesting.

I give this fourth volume, 2 stars!
