April ’18 OwlCrate Unboxing | SHADOWS & SECRETS

IMG_5878Hello, friends! I’m pretty sure this is the last OwlCrate box I’ll be getting for a while, so I’m both bummed and a little refreshed. Bummed because I won’t be getting cool bookish knick-knacks every month. I’m a little refreshed because now I won’t have to worry so much about finding space on my shelf! Haha.

Anywho, the April 2018 OwlCrate box is called Shadows & Secrets and there’s some pretty interesting stuff in here! Let’s take a look!

The first item in this Shadows & Secrets box is a set of Harry Potter inspired pencils. The red pencil says “I SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I’M UP TO NO GOOD.” The black pencil reads “PROPERTY OF THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE.” While the brown pencil reads “MISCHIEF MANAGED.” I’m more than likely never going to use them. They’re so pretty, I don’t want to lose them! The pencils are designed by Jubilee Design Studio!

The second thing was a bar of soap. Let me tell you, this bar of soap smells so good. It’s a Shadowhunter themed soap, and it smells of Wild Berry. Again, I probably won’t ever use  this bar of soap, just because my skin is incredibly sensitive, and I don’t want to react badly to it. The soap is made by Three Sisters Apothecary.

Another thing in the Shadow & Secrets box is a bag of coffee from Bones Coffee Company. I’m not a coffee connoisseur myself, but the smell is delectable! The name, or flavour (I guess) is Deadly Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt! Which is an interesting combination, but salt actually makes chocolate more tasty. And the packaging is so pretty! It’s perfect for Halloween, so I hope they have this around Halloween again for coffee lovers.

There’s also a sticker that came in the box as well. I was actually pretty happy with the sticker, because it’s The Young Elites inspired, and I’ve read the book! I actually relate to the quote a lot. I kind of want to put the sticker on the back of my phone case, but I don’t want the beauty of it to be ruined. The Young Elites vinyl sticker was created by Jamila Mehio.

The pin is intriguing as well, even though I don’t know what it stands for… Oh, and we also got an OwlCrate Exclusive Excerpt booklet for Legendary (Caraval, #2) by Stephanie Garber, since OwlCrate back in February 2017 featured Caraval as their book of the month.

The last thing (aside from the book) we got was another pillow case, once again designed by Stella’s Bookish Art! I actually like this pillow case a lot more than one we received before. The pillow case was inspired by Crooked Kingdom, and I have no doubt that Kaz said that quote (since I myself haven’t yet read Crooked Kingdom).

The book in this months’ box is Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody! I had a slightly weird experience with this book actually. I was strolling through my tumblr feed and someone had quoted a bunch of quotes from the book regarding sex and the character not wanting to have any sex (asexual character, perhaps?). So I added Ace of Shades to my mental TBR, and then shaBAM– two days after the Shadows & Secrets box was at my door! I’m kinda jealous of the regular cover though, to be honest. I like the red cover way more than they grey-red cover. Maybe the grey-red cover will have some sort of significance in the book that I haven’t found out about yet.

My overall thoughts on the Shadows & Secrets box is that while it feels a little small in comparison to the rest, I’m still really happy with it. I’m looking forward to reading the book as soon as I am able to. I’m happy with everything in this Shadows & Secrets box! Here’s everything that was in the box this month, in one picture!

As I’m typing this, I haven’t yet read Ace of Shades, so when I do, I will definitely put a link to my review!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Reading!
