The Night We Said Yes, by Laura Gibaldi | {Mini} Book Review #343

My views on this book may have changed since I’ve read it.

Untitled-4A fun, romantic read, perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Susane Colasanti! What happens when Matt and Ella reunite one year after their breakup? Are second chances really possible?

Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over her ex-boyfriend and graduate high school—simple as that. But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player—was never part of that plan. And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying “yes” to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.

But then Matt leaves town, breaking Ella’s heart. And when he shows up a year later—wanting to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn’t sure whether Matt’s worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future.

I liked this story. It was fun, and adventurous. We’re introduced to many characters. Though the main characters that this story focuses on though, is Ella and Matt.

The Night We Said Yes goes back and forth between the past and present, effectively telling the story between two perspectives of the same person. Though Ella and Matt have their own thing to work out, we also see bits of the other characters stories as well, still seen through Ella’s eyes.

Ella and her best friend, Meg, have such a strong friendship. Actually, all the characters have a strong bond with each other. Their little group of friends are so strong that when I finished the book I thought to myself “If these characters were real people, they’d still be close friends until the day they die.”

I cant help but say that at what happened at the end I had predicted at the beginning, and I am annoyed that it happened!

The Night We Said Yes, is a good story though, and a nice read.

I gave The Night We Said Yes, 3 stars.

Have you read The Night We Said Yes, or any other of Laura Gibaldi’s works?
